Natural science and migratory waterfowl sustain me. I mainly just play a lot of video games. Plant native, learn to shoot and support your local taco truck.

Fuck fascists and bootlickers. Support immigrants and trans folks. Open borders or bust.

Here's 10 different views on the 2025 hurricane season from a report we did at Oak Global.

1) ACE was pretty much bang-on average, but the number of hours of Cat 4s was almost double the usual: these contributed nearly all the ACE as we had so few weak Cat 1-2s this year.

It's not just us noticing the unsettled weather

Thunderstorms and gusty winds will continue to affect eastern parts of the Mediterranean

Although rainfall will vary across the region, some areas may reach, or even exceed their typical monthly totals in just a matter of days 👇

Aviation accidents “receive an intense investigation by the NTSB with specific recommendations to improve safety, while events like the July 4th flash flood with 119 fatalities rely on entities like Camp Mystic self-policing themselves and developing their own plans to try to improve safety.”
The release of new safety plans by Camp Mystic shows the laissez-faire approach our society has to weather disasters compared to much lower probability risks such as commercial airline accidents. If we truly want to limit these tragedies, that has to change. https://tinyurl.com/527djxk3
BalancedWx Special: Camp Mystic reveals new flash flood safety plans
And why this demonstrates how much more we need to be doing as a society to reduce weather fatalities

Live oak (Quercus virginiana) is the state tree of Georgia and an iconic symbol of the Coastal South. It is an evergreen native to the Coastal Plain but will grow more inland. It is a fast-growing member of the white oak group, often growing more wide than tall. (1/2) #nativeplants

Not even particularly original ideas over at Berkeley! I wonder if any of the authors were Woodard’s grad students.

Just ancient warmed over vaguely Tory eugenics—iow, racists so into it they’re re-hashing the anti-Irish, anti-Scottish alongside the usual US anti-Black, anti-Latino variants.

I'd love to ask all my followers - what's your favorite off-the-beaten-path video game you've played this year?

(Feel free to post yours in the thread below)

One I truly enjoyed was The Trolley Solution. It's a goofy little game that only takes a couple of hours to fully complete. But it's funny!

The Trolley Solution is a compilation of point-and-click minigames based on the famous thought experiment originally proposed by Philippa Foot.
