Fare Gate Mystery #2

The passageway running along USPS and into the South Station concourse appears to be a DEP-licensed Chapter 91 path, requiring public access 24/7.

That passageway opens directly into the track access area, bypassing the fare gates! No observable solution is under way. 🤔

My guess? Based on:

Bizarre revisionism following the below-market purchase by New Atlantic in 2014;
Grandiose claims by a cohort in Midway re. expertise in artist housing;
$230k paid to board member in 2024 w/o knowledge of residents or full board:

👉 They're driving Midway under to take it over.
BREAKING: Plaintiffs in lawsuit against Midway Studios, having been DENIED their initial complaint; then DENIED their Motion for Reconsideration of that earlier denial; yesterday filed an Amended Notice of Appeal. WTF

Uninsured legal costs were already reportedly in the 6 figures. The motivation? 🤔
BREAKING: Strong turnout at Midway Studios elections last night, and strong support for Midway's new leadership team.

ONGOING: Lawsuit by prior board members ("Plaintiffs") has revealed unsettling allegations regarding prior board activities.

See: Motions (# 28, 54) Orders (# 43, 62)

BREAKING: Today, in a major victory for Midway Studios Board (Defendants) and residents alike, Judge Hornstine of Suffolk Superior Court denied the Plaintiff's Motion for Reconsideration.

OPINION: Allegations in docs dated 10/20/25 are an absolute disgrace.

South Station fare gates are scheduled to go live in December. Here's what to know.
Commuter rail riders at South Station will need a ticket to get in and out of the station starting next month, according to the MBTA.

Could be wrong; looking forward to confirming at South Station:

The cloaked fare gates (pic #1) appeared to be installed at random distances apart from each other. Was my mind playing tricks?

The fare gates (#2) appeared to be set apart at different distances, but in a repeating pattern.

The Downtown Crossing tree has just been installed.

It’s a whole tree, not the half-tree that used to be mounted over Macy*s covered walkway.

It’s a heathy, beautiful tree. The base is sturdy, modest and quite complimentary. Thanks to all who made this possible. 🌲 cc @downtownboston.bsky.social

Grateful for this partnership with Boston.
Trump's DOJ is suing @boston.gov over the Trust Act - a local law that limits local law enforcement's participation in federal immigration policy, builds trust, and promotes public safety.

I'm filing a brief with the courts today to stand with Boston, the safest major city in America.

Worth noting that cycle advocacy isn’t arriving from the cycle community alone.

A Better City is a “business-league” nonprofit deriving roughly 75% of revenue from business members, serving as an advocate for those members.

In other words, the corporate sector has embraced cycling.

DID YOU KNOW District Hall sits on land planned and zoned as public park space (Seaport Common, Block F).

Shuttered for two years, DH was built as temporary, on two 5-year leases to 2023, and one extension to 2033.

Milking profits is more lucrative than completing Seaport Common, so why bother?

I’ll pay $100/hour for access to an outdoor pickleball court in an entire zipcode that has no free, public pickleball courts when hell freezes over.

Seaport will be lining pockets until it isn’t, while master developers line up for tax breaks, flim-flams and public bailouts for sea level rise.
Think the City of Boston has no leverage in seeing shabby-ass Seaport Common and its broken and abandoned fountains completed as a public park?

Who do you think is handing out annual permits for use of 1/3rd of Seaport Common land (Block F) as expansion area of the beer garden and Snowport? GMAFB
BRING $$$$ OR GTFO

Master Developer of Seaport Square hasn’t completed Seaport Common, a public park under construction for 12 years. District Hall, closed. Harbor Way, half-baked.

But on a lot already permitted for a future tower, we’ll soon have “igloos” for rent and pickleball courts ($100/hr).
