Sabbath Sign Out: Besitos for dessert. This pup is Luna who I met on May Day in #ChelseaMA. Then today, I found besitos at Market Basket in Waltham! We all deserve más besitos y menos deportaciones. Feast and rest for the work is long.

My only, and I mean this sincerely, my only consolation is that these men will have to answer to the Lord for their inhumanity.

Father, forgive them, because they know EXACTLY what they are doing.

I am staying at a monastery with the other state council of church leaders this week. There is a nearly life sized Saint (Benedict of Nursia, I think?) outside my door. Dude catches me off guard every time.

Don’t miss the misogyny at play here (in addition to the base colonialism) which @katemanne.bsky.social teaches in “Down Girl” that the logic of misogyny is men believing women owe them goods and services or they can respond violently- which Trump very can do- he is OWED her medal here.

Plenty bad happening in polycrisis nationwide. I do NOT understand why #Boston is adding to the harm by breaking promises to add affordable housing, support Black investors & nurture Black neighborhoods. Demand better by @mayorwu.boston.gov #Roxbury #Bospoli www.bostonglobe.com/2026/01/13/b...
Wu’s plan to scrap Roxbury lab and housing development for new high school stirs bitter reaction - The Boston Globe
It’s an abrupt change of course for the long-vacant parcel known as P3, where developers have struggled for decades to get anything built.

Praying with John 1: Let us pray 🙏🏼- “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Out of Boston? Out of anywhere now? Forgive me for presuming, Lord, that I know where Your goodness comes from. All Your people are good. All Your people are blessed All Your people are known and loved by You. Even me.

At some point, national orgs will stop trying to fund national organizing efforts, and will learn to TRUST local people with what we know best, where we know it best, and stop funding slick national campaigns and influencers.

Today is not that day.

Get local. Sink deep.

Praying with Psalm 119- let us pray 🙏🏼: O God, “I am a stranger here on earth,” rings familiar. I do not understand how evil continue to prosper. I long to be at home with You but I’m distracted by grocery lists, and my rights under threat and my neighbors taken. Turn me from shame to solace in You.

Praying with Psalm 5: Let us pray 🙏🏼 - Give ear to my words and consider my meditations, Lord. Not all of them because my mind wanders and some of what I think about should not be. But for the evil? Whose throat is an open grave? Have at it, Lord. I am done with them. Declare them guilty. Spare me.

I am currently staying at a monastery, which apparently was last updated the last time a novice joined. There is a pillow of the local NFL team in this room, so help me Jesus.

You know what AI driven cars can NOT do? Give you the lowdown on the politics of their home country, the best local bop, and tell you about their own faith. Tip, and talk to, your drivers. 🚕

Today is the feast day of Aelred of Rievaulx, 1167. Let us pray 🙏🏽- O Lord, You want us to have Spiritual Friendships. You show us Jesus and the Beloved Disciple, Mary and Martha, the Myrrh-Bearers. Thank you for Brother Aelred. Give us friends. Teach us to be good friends. You do not send us alone.

The role of cars in our society results in a uniquely American way that state violence is enacted and justified. Renee Good is just the most recent.

If you work in any area of engineering, planning, or public admin, what we do is relevant to our current historical moment, whether we like it or not.
FYI: Judge Ellis (Chicago ICE case) noted in November that video evidence shows ICE "brake-checked other motorists in an attempt to force accidents that agents could then use as justifications for deploying force."

When it’s women protesting, it’s a “gang?” But when it’s men illegally detaining our neighbors, it’s federal authorities.
Ok.

Praying with Isaiah 42: let us pray 🙏🏽- Oh God, your gentleness and power is so different than what I see daily. “A bruised reed You will not break.” There are bruises on my feet from kicking rocks. Comfort your people. This peace you promise? Send quickly. The coastlands wait and I do too. Send now
