Here's Secretary of War Pete Hegseth saying troops should disobey orders and calling for "consequences" for war crimes. He thinks Americans have an "ethos" to be better that our enemies.

Arrest this fool for sedition.

(BTW "No quarter" is a war crime)

Misleading write-up - it's true that there is a crisis in A&E, but this is not because of "soaring demand".

The RCN report itself shows that A&E attendances are only 3% higher than in 2019, while 12+ hour waits are 8,033% higher.

The Peace Pledge Union is putting on an event next Tuesday, where you can hear conscientious objectors from Russia and Ukraine tell their stories.

I’ve seen a number of people sharing this story with the comment, why didn’t he tell Stoppard, and I think the answer is probably “because people either don’t think to or think there will always be time to.” If someone has done something you admire, tell them.
I hope someone draws this wonderful story about Tom Stoppard's Arcadia and the power of the arts to help us see things differently, to the attention of our Education Secretary. Do read it, it will lift your spirits.

Photos 2 & 3 are the same cloud.
It's got dark early this evening, the drive way and footpath are not quite the stream they were but still a pond in one part.

I have a new piece in Central Bylines on the danger of basing policy on appearance, the wider push to restore a restrictive approach to gender, and what that means for women's rights and society as a whole. centralbylines.co.uk/society/more...
More than meets the eye: sex, gender and dangerous women
Labour's unworkable approach to policing gender means trouble for everyone – which is exactly what the real enemies of women's rights want

This is an excellent, level-headed, informative piece. I'd kill for a government which could discuss the issue with the same sense of objectivity and calm.

The UK Budget does nothing to address the fundamental unfairness facing Wales.

No HS2 consequentials, no powers over the Crown Estate, higher taxes for households and businesses, and a Chancellor who misled the public to justify her decisions.

The people of Wales deserve better.

The replies to this are really interesting. It looks like parts of America are really leading the way in using parking policy to give people options not to drive
WORKPLACE PARKING. Has anyone heard of an employer paying people a daily sum, which if you drove went towards your parking space and if you didn't drive went into your pocket? I'm sure I've heard of somewhere doing this, but cannot remember where I heard it
