advent is a time of waiting and expectation... I love advent calendars and collect them, but not ones that have things in them. Maybe a wishes/promises/mottos one would be ok.

Except when people just sweep them onto the street (I've seen it being done) and then it rains and the gullies block. So yes best leave them in a nice heap or spread about, on some part of the garden, on the earth, not on the road.
