Honestly I kept forgetting that yesterday was 9/11. It just felt like a ordinary day to me.

I've been seeing a lot of posts this year about how much I "united" Americans in 2001/2, and—while I'm always happy to bring people together— it's important to hold in mind what Americans got left out of that "unity":
Something I will always remember is how immediately after 9/11, I read a news story about a Sikh man who was randomly attacked on the street because some random dude thought his skin tone and clothing made him one of the terrorists.
Few people around me seemed to care about the news story.
