I've never seen a population more united. If people can hold onto that unity, if people can accept that different people will have different ways of confronting fascism, if we can remind NGOs and orgs that they can join but not control the resistance, then, well, people here will write history.

I find it really difficult to recover from the shame of working homelessness. Even though my career now is in system-level work (with "lived experience") the narrative that I just made bad choices sits deep in my chest. Seeing discussion like this is an antidote & reminder that I'm not alone.
Positively shocked that the house magazine of the Manhattan Institute is upset that my book refuses to attribute America's record-high homelessness to "personal choices"—rather than, say, rents outpacing income gains by 325 percent since 1985.

Crime rates near Toronto’s supervised drug consumption sites dropped

A recent study revealed supervised drug consumption sites in Toronto have not led to an increase in crime – in fact, most rates dropped or even declined.

oldhead advice from an oldhead.

every couple years, newcomers to the movement think "THIS is finally it, the moment when the dam breaks and the whole system is overthrown"

and when it doesn't happen they lose patience and get disillusioned and drop out of movement work
