I'm here to do two things: read lawsky posts and like Blacksky posts. No need to follow me back.

I'm sort of a lurker. If I follow you and I don't know you, I'd almost prefer it if you don't follow back. I'm doing fine over here on my own ✌️
Kavanaugh kidnappings.

It was never just going to be Kavanaugh stops.
Having seen several abductions up close, it is really hard to convey how much the thing they’re doing is roaming in military convoys until they see someone who is alone and isn’t white, and then jumping out in large numbers, pulling them into a van, and screeching off, all in 90 seconds or so.
"“They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood.” Lugert-Thom responded, “I don’t know anything about that” & she said they then asked, “Well, what about the Asian families?”"

"“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what I was asked to do.”"

Ford better conclude its investigation real quick like and reinstate this worker. It's either solidarity or it's over.

Completely agree. This is a good lesson in how to allow people who have been (dangerous, even) opposition to stop being the opposition.

One out of 12 rams is uninterested in females. Deemed “non-procreative" by farmers, they're typically sent to slaughter. German farmer Michael Stücke rescues the gay rams. His company Rainbow Wool, sells fabulous wool products from his flock of gay sheep. rainbow-wool.com

The metatalk abt Stancil putting in work in Minneapolis makes me think of what LtCol Jessup says in A Few Good Men abt "either say thank you or stand a post." I think we need Will and any other willing person on Jessup's wall, so to speak. (The metaphor doesn't go too far, so don't stretch it thin.)

It's good for Ilhan Omar to do direct aid in Minneapolis without any press attention. I get it. But the alleged DNC leaders who aren't currently running their own state (Pritzker, Newsom) and have talked about maybe running for Prez (Emmanuel, Harris) need to show face and help organize.

Bonus points for use of subjunctive, coach!
Just wait until Mike McDaniel shows up to his introductory press conference in Cleveland wearing this shirt and wins over Browns fans faster than Freddie Kitchens...

Isn't former FBI Director The Drizz available? Surely he could find ways to grease some wheels.
Q: Is there anything stopping state law enforcement from conducted an independent investigation even if the feds don't want it?

JACOBSON: Without assistance from the FBI, we would be at a loss to be able to initiate & conduct a thorough investigation. It would be very difficult if not impossible

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists' antiwar bangers should be required listening in public schools right now. The zoomers need earworm propaganda.

I have a fun theory that 1996 was the best year ever for rock radio, and I'm not wrong.

This is what happens when a toothless DNC doesn't circle the wagons. Frankly, it shouldn't matter whether there was fraud. That fraud wld only be a small part of the whole picture, and what he did for MN, not to mention the DNC, is worth fighting for. Wait, I forgot Plouffe and Rahm didn't like him.

Today might be the day I give up. What is a random person in rural nowhere supposed to do? I feel so powerless.

Here's how I know that Weiss is either clicking "publish" directly on this stuff or she's rejecting copy edits: that en dash. Should be an em. Only self-important pretenders mix that up in a newsroom.
“In conclusion, CBS is a land of contrasts.”

This whole thing reads like a half-assed class project some fifth graders rushed through before Christmas break.

I played cello in a uni orchestra. The choir joined us for a Christmas concert. After the show, a student in the choir found me and said, "You were the most interesting person to watch in the orchestra." And then she just went on her way! Also got stopped in a grocery once and asked if I'm a model 💅
Forget insults, what’s the most unhinged *compliment* you’ve ever received?

Look. I am up because my town suddenly wants to do fireworks for new years. First time in all my life this town is doing this nonsense. So I don't know what's happening, but I was only here for my mom, and she's gone now, so I'll take this as a sign that it's imperative that I leave.
1:36am EST: Moon in Gemini quincunxes the Sun in Capricorn, then squares the Nodes of Fate in Pisces and Virgo. Well well, if it isn't the consequences of our own actions. We're starting the New Year off with a bit of karma drama and/or moral dilemma.

Ready for 2026. It's gonna be full of classes, qualifying exams, good health, and clarity about which path is the best fit. Goodbye, 2025. You were the worst year personally I've lived through, but I learned a lot.

The least fun copyediting job I've had was for blog-esque "academic" articles by an Italian prof who gave birth right around the time COVID shut down Italy, and the prof found that not being able to have her parents come dote on the baby was a human rights violation worthy of ECHR prosecution.
The reason this Harvard history professor decided he was done with one of the best and most privileged jobs in the world was, in his own words, because he was forced to lecture in a mask during peak Covid.

I’m not making this up.

Thought I was doing pretty well since my mom died, but today I picked up my car (I've had it for a year now) from being worked on for a week, and I couldn't figure out how to tell how much gas I had in the tank (kept scrolling thru menus, overlooking the analog meter). And I left my wallet at home.

I'm ambivalent about Will Stancil. But there is no upside to complaining that Kat Abu is doing mutual aid as part of her campaign. 1: mutual aid is good. 2: making politics explicitly about mutual aid is good. 3: we gotta be better at not picking on each other. The target is to our right, Will.

The little town that my parents built their very cool house in is dying. It breaks my heart to think of the house being empty or mistreated eventually. But no building stands forever. Part of me wants to tear it down just to get it over with, but they built it themselves so I don't have it in me.
