I know there is a lot going on right now but Trump continues to light all the levers of American global power on fire and hand huge wins to Russia and China. It is a form of national surrender, of unprecedented sabotage, that will leave this nation less prosperous, less safe, and far less free.
The headline, the main takeaway from a European viewpoint is this:

The transatlantic relationship as we know it is over. Yes, we kinda knew this. But this is now official US White House policy. Not a sppech, not a statement. The West as it used to be no longer exists.

What struck me most on Europe wasn’t the focus on value, freedom of speech etc - again, very similar to Vance’s Munich speech - but how activist it is. This is about directly trying to influence what is going on in Europe:

That's an under-appreciated impact of #AMOC shutdown, of particular concern given the recent results showing much higher likelihood of this. 1/2

It's unarguable that being a modern politician contains many new elements that weren't there even 10 years ago, and it's both interesting and positive to see some Labour backbenchers start to engage with social media. Unsurprisingly I have some thoughts www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

I know we all find Truss amusing, but I find it deeply concerning that you've got an actual former Prime Minister even saying this stuff.

Truly insane that Farage as the face of Brexit also cosplays as the hero of the migration ‘crisis’ he caused. Really hope this is the start of him getting the thorough scrutiny he deserves.

It's a disgrace that the BBC has given so much airtime to the leader of a 'party' or limited company to be more accurate, which has only 5 MPs.... If only Lib Dems, Green, SNP, Plaid et al were given so much publicity...

Dear BBC, the objection to Israel is not its "war in Gaza". It's its *war crimes* against the Palestinian people, in Gaza (and let's not forget the illegal occupations).
Tell it how it is.

America has been colonized. Not by armies, but by billionaire oligarchs. They’ve seized assets, land, platforms—even democracy itself. And colonized America is their springboard, exporting oligarchy worldwide. Reclaim ownership or remain subjects. #EndOligarchy #OwnTheFuture #WealthTax
Assets are everything.

Without them, people live as serfs—fed but never free.

Without them, nations become colonies again—laboring while outsiders own the mines and ports.

Security without ownership is dependency.

Tax the rich, redistribute assets, break the chains. #EndOligarchy #WealthTax
