sprawl is an unmitigated environmental, social, and economic disaster

it is no longer affordable (especially when you add in transportation and time)

sprawl is driving climate change. literally.

and it is a ponzi scheme - unable to fund maintenance and replacement costs
Not a single time in this article glorifying the need for sprawl to address the US's affordable housing crisis is there a mention of the vast transportation costs of sprawling living patterns. Nor is there mention of the fact that sprawl is directly linked to disinvestment in urban cores.
America Needs More Sprawl to Fix Its Housing Crisis
The word has become an epithet for garish, reckless growth — but to fix the housing crisis, the country needs more of it.

Hopefully this puts the bad idea of not having a second downtown tunnel to rest for good. The second tunnel (including both downtown and SLU parts of it) is the most important part of ST3 and should be treated accordingly.
In the interline scenario, Ballard Link would actually skip Westlake Station, with trains instead heading north from Third Avenue from Symphony Station. This would require suspending existing light rail service for "potentially years" along with the Third Ave bus corridor.

Every single person in this video and everyone up the chain of command should be criminally prosecuted. This is a brazen act of piracy. It's the stuff that would get people hanged for most of modern and even ancient history. bsky.app/profile/bnon...

Cannot wait for Washington’s State emergency declaration for flooding to be ignored by the FEMA. I expect there will be at least one late night post about how Gov. Ferguson isn’t opening up the ‘faucet’ to let the water drain into California.

I am as happy to criticize Congressional failures as the next person - pass a budget FFS! - but when Congress responds to the demands and constraints of governance in realistic ways, the judiciary stops it from doing so, based on an 18th century model of governance.

3/ Congress gave us independent agencies; the Court is about to give us Kelly and has already given us PCAOB, Seila Law, etc. Congress gave us broad delegations of certain powers; the Court gave us the major questions doctrine.

'corridor urbanism' isn't urbanism.

but it is a way to funnel renters and poor people into the worst parts of our region while protecting sky high home values
Washington's Transportation Commission is holding a work session on "corridor urbanism" this morning, something that continues to circulate around state level planning after being promoted by Chris Gregoire's think-tank.

Exactly. It's disingenuous to call it a purity test to say "You shouldn't be beholden to right-wing billionaires pushing right-wing policies and right-wing candidates."

No, Progressives Don’t Want “Purity.” They Just Want Some Courage.
When left-leaning Democrats complain about corporate influence, it’s not a “purity test.” It’s a demand for a better politics.

Just imagining how much better it would be if ALL news stories about vaccine-preventable illnesses were illustrated with pictures of people with the disease, not pictures of needle injections. If you must show something that people will find scary & unpleasant, make it the disease, not the cure.
I'm so tired of measles.

I'm also tired of people using needle shots on stories like this.

Show what measles looks like.
