I was at the Sierra Club during the period described in this article and although I have my criticisms, it gets the issues in the Club fundamentally wrong. A 🧵

Read every word & share with everyone you know. This is real life here in Chicago. Americans need to know this grotesque reality & stand with us.
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

This story on the sierra club is such crap. It’s clearly a story about poor governance and typical nonprofit industrial complex mismanagement, but somehow the NYT manages to make the story:

“The Sierra Club tried to be less racist than they used to be. It was a fatal mistake.”

Teen Vogue's Closure and the Quiet Defunding of Worker Consciousness
Teen Vogue’s shutdown marks more than a media loss. This is a warning about how profit-driven consolidation quietly dismantles worker awareness and voice.

Democrats are so inspiring, man. The consistency with which they fail to meet the moment. I don’t know that I could ever lock in like that

OMG. The site is literally called the Dunning Kruger Times.
With a “WOW!,” President Trump posts a claim about DOGE and “royalties linked to Obamacare” that originated on a satirical website. That site’s own About section reads: “Everything on this website is fiction… If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined.”

Few people care about this, I know. It's just another way that Black people are USED to grow the prison industrial complex by claiming that we do mainly want more cops. No nuance ever. Just more cops.

surveillance is not safety, example ten trillion billion million zillion
"Although Mexico City’s video surveillance system is a tool to prevent and punish crimes, the city still registers the highest crime rate in the country, with 54,473 crimes per 100,000 inhabitants."
Mexico City Is the Most Video-Surveilled Metropolis in the Americas
Despite 83,000 public cameras, crime in Mexico City remains high—and widespread surveillance raises myriad ethical issues.

This is @lukeoneil47.bsky.social.

Yes, he's very attractive. But stop objectifying him!

He's also a brilliant and incisive writer.

And he's having a book release this Saturday at @thesinclair.bsky.social

I'm gonna play a couple songs at it.

It's free and all ages.

It'll be cool. Come thru?

If I could give one piece of practical purchasing advice from a 40something to a 20something it would be this:

mattresses and shoes are worth spending a lot of money on

way more important than having the latest phone or designer jeans. take care of your feet and back.

oh also sunscreen
