One of the genuinely weird aspects of these long threads about what to do, is the automatic assumptionthat as soon as the UK has decided what it wants (SPS, SM, CU, etc), the discussion is over. I can't tell you how often I've wanted to post: 'Do you think the EU has any agency here?'

The way the sloppers pretend their organized theft is just as taxing as actual art is genuinely pathetic.
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

US Citizen detained by ICE: Clearly it didn't matter that I was a citizen, a veteran, or identified who I was. They ignored everything I said. They just broke my window and dragged me out. I let them know I was a veteran, I wasn't doing anything wrong, just trying to get to work.

Not. A. Cult.
In February, he signed an Executive Order to shut it down and all they had to do was put his name on the building and he miraculously changed his mind.

It would be infuriating if it wasn’t so pathetic.

Ultimately this is the point where the wider state needs to step in with a massive banhammer

Block the website from UK IPs, imprision anyone involved with the company who visits the UK. The state does have power here, but has learned helpnessness with tech
I wonder how much Ofcom’s failure to use even the limited powers it has against Twitter is based on concern that it would be quite revealing when Musk just ignores any ruling.

Asking other EU members to meaningfully commit to sharing the risk with Belgium is absolutely fair imho. But that's the only acceptable part of his argument

I can also understand if he's not willing to take a personal risk; most of us aren't heroes. But then he should resign to remove that obstacle
‼️Stunning statements by the Belgian Prime Minister at an event in Brussels this week.

🔹It's an illusion that Russia will lose in Ukraine
🔹If they lose, instability is bad because of nuclear weapons
🔹I have been personally threatened by Russia if their assets are seized

Wow.

Isn’t it funny how long this has been a discussion people been trying to bring to the front, esp Black activists in the south? Southern activists in general?

The GOP redistricted their way into winning.

TX was already ridiculous. Every time I see the 35th district… POC are trapped here.

The point of having a standards editor is that you bring in a skilled, disinterested person to read or watch a story and point out possible bias, errors and lapses.

The actual story editors can miss those things because they're so closely tied to the production and reporting of the piece.
“I’ve been hearing that standards will be eliminated or severely cut back. Bari has told people that she wants to get rid of standards and is shocked that they have so much power. She also asked openly, ‘What’s the point of standards?’” one CBS source said.
