Btw, I remember there being some anxieties around folks expressing their opinions during primaries.

Besides being nowhere near a presidential primary at the moment, now is in fact the time for people to express certain lines they expect candidates not to cross.

Protect trans folks.

Anyway, I told them, to stand out and get jobs in CS, learn to write. And you aren't going to learn how to write at a professional level without practicing a lot. Just like any other skill you want to have at a professional level.

Maybe that's not what they wanted to hear. But I stand by it.

I think it’s fine to bully people for reading Harry Potter in 2025 actually

If you want to read your old Harry Potter books, you should do it in secret and shamefully - you know, in the way that J.K. Rowling wants to force trans people to live.

🚨NEW: Major development.

German newspaper Der Spiegel has found phone numbers and passwords for Hegseth, Waltz & Gabbard in stolen data freely published on the internet.

‼️It includes details of Signal accounts.

“It is conceivable that foreign agents were privy to the Signal chat group.”

So. I think it's important to share news about what's happening. But I'm trying to square that with the other reality that it contributes to doomscrolling.

I think we need to start putting these things into context and talking about what we are learning or what we should take away from it.
NEW—After a day of uncertainty on where agents took Tufts student Rumeysa Ozturk, she appears to be in a Louisiana facility.

1400+ miles from Somerville, Massachusetts, where she was taken.

A judge ordered to not take her out of state without 48 hour notice. She was detained last night.

“I can buy that badge from a fucking costume store,” says a witness to the “kidnapping” of Rumeysa Ozturk as she was on her way to break her Ramadan fast.

He did nothing to help Flint.

He was already rotted out.

First they came for the billionaires, and I didn’t speak up. Because honestly that tracks, we are being hella weird.

To be clear, the upshot of this decision is that an awful 5th Circuit decision saying it’s illegal for states to count late-arriving mail ballots will stand. It nullifies two such laws, in Texas and Mississippi, though it doesn’t apply in the rest of the country.

It’s SCOTUS-bound for sure.

Hearing all these democrats suggesting that trans people aren't worthy of rights, sure screams progressive principles.
It's not like there are any historical precedents for what happens when centrists cave to fascist calls to dehumanize groups of marginalized people.
No, no, none at all.

Cool so what happens if GOP attach a national abortion ban to a CR? You'll vote for that too?

🚮
My YES vote is *not* an endorsement of this deeply flawed CR.

My YES vote is 💯 about refusing to shut our government down.

I refuse to punish working families and plunge millions of Americans into chaos.

I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever vote to shut our government down.

Yes. If DHS can barge in, say your visa was revoked, be told you have a green card, say it's revoked too, and then disappear you so that neither your lawyer nor your family can find you, then all the guardrails are gone. There is no policy, practice, or law protecting anyone.

Democrats even *thinking* about joining Republicans to censure Al Green for having the courage to stand up while they sat down do not deserve to be able to generate a single fundraising dollar from a person of moral character ever again.
