Happy New Year, friends! I have some ~personal news~, which is that the Bluesky team is generously giving me some contract work (which could possibly turn into a job) welcoming more indie media and local govt to Bsky and supporting those already here.

Excited to take my amateur Bsky boosterism pro!

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps:

- It’s ‘voilà,’ not ‘wallah!’
- It’s ‘a lot,’ not ‘alot.’
- It’s ‘further ado,’ not ‘farther adieu.’
- It’s ‘flesh out,’ not ‘flush out.’
- It’s ‘sneak peek,’ not ‘sneak peak.’

No worries if not!!!

CHOTINER: and when you're in water you

PARTICLE MAN: don't get wet, that's right.

CHOTINER: And this is because

PARTICLE MAN: the water gets me instead. It becomes particle-manish

CHOTINER: There's been some debate on this point. Triangle Man, for example

PARTICLE MAN: I think we're done here

Even now, I’m not sure if this is a thing they actually believe—that there’s a microchip in my brain that activates when the Jewish Sauron desires something and compels me to provide it, whether it is antifa-branded chaos or, I dunno, lactose-free snacks—or if they know it’s a lie but just like it

I’ve meant to buy things from Mox for so long and finally, finally did it! Who cares about Christmas delivery, print out a screenshot and write “coming soon” on it, everyone gets a delayed gratification present before the new year
yeah, most ✨Shameless Self Promotion Saturday✨ are devoted to underlining being a place where people can get things they want while paying no more than they
can justify (or just giving shit away)

last one before Xmas. it's been a slow month.

please be generous today. we could use it.

I read half of this (excellent) @katiederosa.bsky.social story waiting for the legal gymnasts to appear before I realized I’d misread the first sentence, and they were not coming, and neither were the implied *illegal* gymnasts and their underground parallel bars scene

What is next for MAGA?

I wrote about the MAGA civil war, the dynamics shaping this ugly struggle for supremacy on the Right, what Trumpism without Trump might look like, and why MAGA is likely to emerge more ideological and more radical.

Some thoughts from my new piece for @zeit.de:
MAGA: Wie MAGA um die Zeit nach Trump kämpft
Donald Trumps Macht über seine Bewegung wird rissig. Sie streitet schon jetzt, wer nach ihm kommt – und zwar auf ihre Art: Die Rede ist vom MAGA-Bürgerkrieg.

@bcdreyer.social I was reading yet another cursed excerpt from the Nuzzi book, and wondered: a copyeditor celebrates when they edit something inspired or even just very well-crafted. What does a CE do when they flip a few pages and realize the work is a disaster, but they still have to do the work?
