Great album.
Kept from the public eye for far too long and only released 17 years ago

Recorded in May 1975 and released in February 2009, ...For the Whole World to See, an album by the proto-punk/punk rock band Death.

If you don’t know who Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks are, you probably shouldn’t be analyzing Texas politics.

Reading this story from the Atlantic, where they use the word/label of "dissident." Loaded with historical context. Would love the hear @hcrichardson.bsky.social take on it!

The Way to Beat Back Trump Was Just Revealed
There is a word for what ICE’s opponents in Minneapolis represent, and it has a long, successful history: dissidence.

I get tired of saying it, but I’ll say it again: the nature of oppression in America is that they workshop it first on Black, Latino, Asian & Native people.

But it is always, in the end, coming for everyone.
The arrests of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are a test for every MSM member with a platform. If you are not voicing your outrage at this blatant violation of the First Amendment, you are utterly discredited as a journalist.

#Texans time to start paying attention.

Absolutely. I have fully felt that i'm personally back to the early days of twitter here for me. I'm much more of a consumer of the info here rather than a contributor though.
Holistically I do find this platform better now than it was 3, 6 months ago, and generally feel like my experience here is within my control.
Don’t know if it’s still honeymoon phase-y, but if the idea that “capital goes where it’s treated best” also holds for conversation, pretty bullish on this platform.

Of the biggest scandals in US history just this week, I think I’d rank them:

1) Federal paramilitaries invade US city based on racist lies, murder US citizens

2) Slush fund for the president from stolen foreign resources held in Qatar

3) Whatever FBI and DNI are doing re: 2020 election in Georgia

I saw DPS pull someone over on N Lamar today. Next door to the Enterprise. I pulled in across the street and had my camera ready. Nothing happened, but, what happens if something happens.

Austin, let's think about that.

Once again, I ask, in good faith & without trying to be overly alarmist, what anyone has seen in the last year to make them believe that the 2026/28 elections will be free, fair, & democratic by any traditional meaning of the words?
Ossoff: "This is a seismic event. This should have people across the country absolutely shook. This is a huge deal. This is an FBI raid on the Fulton County Elections office ... This is a shot across the bow at the midterm elections. He tried to steal power when he lost it in 2020."

'Fruit Trees.' Albert Fiks experimented with different styles and then combined them in his own way in his work. With his abstract style, he chose the path of his friend Piet Mondrian. This work from his Cubist period, was made in 1932.

I for one will be interested in seeing this. Definitely a music influence for me.
Courtney Love wasn't able to make the Sundance premiere of 'Antiheroine.'

But there was still a lotta love in the room for a movie that gives Ms. Love the mic — and lets her tell her story in her own words. Our review.

How many years have we been watching gun nuts open carry semiautomatic rifles into, like, a Dunkin' Donuts as a statement against government control? And they're now silent over a citizen being murdered by federal agents and then blamed for legally carrying a firearm?
