This is, and I cannot possibly stress this enough, a profoundly evil company.

Like,self-evidently, cartoonishly evil.

This edition of BLACK STONE HEART is seriously one of the most beautiful things on my shelves.

The writing and story itself is (obviously) fantastic. The binding is gorgeous. The typeset and pages are gorgeous. The art is gorgeous, and there's even an insane fold-out map.

One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

I had a long talk with someone yesterday about how all prior logic and norms about the labor market have been called off because capital is in the final push to finally casualize white collar workers the way they’ve long wanted to do. From AI to non-competes to this. They smell blood in the water.

Are you on generic Vyvanse? There was a nationwide recall in the fall that a lot of people missed because they put out the news generally but didn’t tell people who were on it directly.

Check your lot numbers here: www.pharmacy.ca.gov/about/recall...

To me, Christmas isn't about perfection or consumerism. It's about family togetherness. It's about dancing with yetis. It's about making ill-advised, Faustian bargains with the Peppermint Man. It's about shrinking down the super rich and trapping them in snow globe pocket dimensions.

No one has scammed and beclowned the human race like cats. "Aww she's sitting on me" she's sapping your energy. "Aww she's purring" she's communicating with the devil, her father in hell

Wild, but me and my friend group just rewatched Johnny Tsunami on a lark a couple of days ago. For a made for TV Disney movie from the late 90s, it held up remarkably well.

Tagawa steals every scene he's in.

I discovered Koja this year, and the extent to which the experience of reading her books has run roughshod over everything else in what has been one of the best reading years of my life is truly astounding.
You're going to want Kathe's book. As a friend said the first time they handed me a Cormac McCarthy novel, "Don't ask questions. Just read it."
Richard Kadrey (Sandman Slim) says Kathe Koja's Dark Matter is like stepping into the ultimate club.

Historian of eugenics here. I don't normally like to retweet bad arguments, but this is such a fundamental misunderstanding of eugenics, I think it's important to point out. I don't have time to debunk all of the ways this is inaccurate, but I'll highlight a few things and then recommend some books🧵

Heated Rivalry is so incredibly horny, a bit toxic (in an honest way), and sometimes cheesy.

And I am so fucking here for it.
