Working on observability stuff at a place. Lover of Sci-fi/Fantasy/Horror—currently working on a novel.

Other interests include: tech, finance, TTRPGs and poker.
There is a some amount real social utility in being able to wager on the outcome of arbitrary things. That is to say I don't think the concept of market making here is inherently bad. But the current schtick is rapidly turning into exploitative gambling with the barest veneer of financialization.

The necromantic impulses around "genAI" really couldn't be a clearer signal that the technology will be unimaginably damaging if left unchecked

I truly think self-discipline and delaying gratification are concepts a ton of people just never learn.

I didn't have a choice. We didn't have much money growing up. I spent my 20s broke af

Im pretty grateful for that now. I sit on purchases for a long time and decide if I really need it.

Before I read the post clickhouse was what immediately came to mind. Glad to see people are already kicking those tires.

I never would have known about 4k77 if not for you talking about it on a stream years ago.

Really blew me away when I saw it. It really does feel like a different film

There's more nuance here if you really dig into the implications of totems and dream layering, and the meta implications of what are either legit criticisms with the first half of the film, or utter genius, depending on whether or not we're watching a dream.

(oh, no. Am I a reply guy now?)
