Harry Connolly (@byharryconnolly.bsky.social) is one of my fave authors.

He needs $ help. harryjconnolly.com/17553-2/

For a good binge read, grab his completed epic fantasy trilogy The Great Way.

His "A Key, an Egg, an Unfortunate Remark" is the best standalone urban fantasy I've read.
A Very Bad Month
Okay. So. I need to update everyone on where things stand for me, why I have made almost no progress on the new novel in the past month, and how things are looking for the future.  What I don&#8217…

Woke up thinking about all those people who chose their devotion to Trump over relationships with their own children. I wonder how they're doing right now.

These past 3 years have been difficult. I've given up script supervising because there's no work but was lucky to get work as a freelance subtitler for a post house. They just got a rush order on a lot of episodes, so I'm gonna be able to afford Christmas presents this year. I'm so relieved.

My favorite line in The Running Man is subtle, but you'll hear it if you pay attention - it's when the film declares that the most heroic thing he's ever done is union organizing.

The Running Man did an excellent job of capturing the mood of the moment. I really enjoyed it and the catharsis it gave me. See it in a nice, loud theater.

When ladies with small boobs wear bras it's like "Teehee what if I draped myself with tiny unsupportive patches of lace" and I'm here for it because damn girl, customize the hell out of those little chest accessories.

Ronald Reagan invented student loans, cratered momentum from unions, & started a decline in the tax rate of the wealthiest people that has wrecked the efficacy of our social programs.

But sure, it's the most vulnerable population, most of whom rent, who are responsible for the housing crisis.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

I bought this pint glass at a dive bar/grill named Donkey's Place in Camden, NJ. They do not have vegetarian options.

I really love drinking dark liquids in this glass.

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

If you haven't been watching The Great North, I highly recommend binging the entire series. The series finale was beautiful and so much needed optimism. The perfect ending to a really fun show full of heart.

So I try not to give too many gory details about life with long covid, but I also think it’s important to give a clear picture of what can happen to anyone.

Over the last yearish, I’ve become allergic to more than 70 foods. Today I lost soy. I’m not how long I can keep eating at all.

Our new healthcare payment won't be as much as we feared, but at my current pay rate, the increase alone is still going to be 3% of my earnings for the entire year. Others have it much worse. Nice dystopia we have here.

And if you tell me "This is a good thing, actually" I will put my anger on you.

I'm at a sports bar reading Rat Queens & paying zero attention to sports, & for some reason Trump is on the screen talking about football. I looked up to see a bunch of deeply unhappy people forced to stand as I guess he recited the Pledge of Alliegance? Anyway, everyone in this bar is baffled.

"without subjecting anyone to differential treatment."

This is flatly false! Trans people with a passport that does not match with their plain appearance when presented to a border agent is subject to additional hassle compared to a cis person presenting a passport.
NEW: On the shadow docket, the Supreme Court lets Trump resume misgendering trans Americans on their passports, claiming "the government is merely attesting to a historical fact without subjecting anyone to differential treatment." All three liberals dissent. www.documentcloud.org/documents/26...

I've been researching a book about set safety, & this week I had to add yet another name to my list of crew who died on set.

If any crew members have witnessed a death on set & are willing to talk about how it happened & how we stop it from happening again, please reach out. Can be anonymous.
