Having recently watched every Royal Rumble from 1994 to 2010, in my expert opinion, 1998 was the best and 2010 the worst.

1994 might have been the worst if it hadn't had Genichiro Tenryu making the final 4.

The point of a pilot scheme is you test a policy with a small (say, 2,000 people) project as test, to evaluate whether the concept is worth widespread adoption.

Basic Income for Artists was a demonstrable success.

Doubling the size of your pilot scheme, is *not* widespread adoption.

We need to go back and stop The Nostalgia Critic from being born. It's the only way we can stop the endless tirade of reboots and revival of old shows and films.

Last year I traveled all the way to rural Vietnam to officiate a friend's wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony that mixed cultures and language, and was a celebration of the best of humanity.

He just sent me this post and said "this is how you lost the war."

A lot of essays (many of them very good) have been written trying to explain why people love wrestling to non-wrestling fans but I think The Mountain Goats' "The Legend of Chavo Guerrero" still does the best job of selling the magic. 🤼‍♂️

Kind of amazing to see the "Fuck ICE" chants on Dynamite getting noticed a bit outside of the wrestling bubble. Some people going "There are wrestling fans that don't like Trump?!" with real "A dog that can TALK?!" energy.

Would Orson Welles want his lost classic restored by A.I.? You mean the same Orson Welles who, when Ted Turner was leading the charge to colorize black & white movies, famously proclaimed "don't let Ted Turner deface my movie with his crayons"? I think I can make an educated guess here.
In 1942, RKO slashed 43 minutes from Orson Welles's "The Magnificent Ambersons" and slapped on a happy ending. Now, an A.I. company wants to restore what was lost. Are they righting a historic wrong or descrating a classic? My deep dive, in this week's New Yorker. www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

Will an A.I. restoration of “The Magnificent Ambersons” right a historic wrong or desecrate a classic?

Wrestling is this insane form of entertainment where every subjective opinion is met with "BUT HOW MUCH MONEY DID THEY MAKE?" van Gogh, horrible painter when he was alive, didn't draw a dime. Now that he's dead and his art is worth tons, best painter ever.

Meta has been lobbying for this all around the world. It moves the cost of compliance to the App platforms (Apple and Google) and government and away from them.

It also literally does nothing to address any of the actual problems we’ve seen this month with Grok, CSAM etc.
Sitting across the Oireachtas Children's Committee on online safety for children.

Very much getting the impression that a lot of politicians are reaching for the Under-16 ban. Momentum behind that rather than a deeper understanding of platforms, algorithms and any alternative view.

Imagine if there was an epidemic of pubs selling alcohol to children and instead of shutting the pubs responsible the government imposed a nationwide curfew on everyone under 16.
