When I volunteered at the Austin Nature & Science Center 300 years ago, this was phrased to me as "their heads are full of optic nerves & murder. There's no room for anything else."
Me to same owl handler: "Owls are super wise, right? They read loads of highbrow Russian literature and stuff, don't they?"

Owl handler: "No, they actually have very tiny brains, due to the hugeness of their eyes. In reality they are one of the thickest animals you could ever meet."

Absolute Creature Cheshire Cat looks a little madder than most. But fear not; she is at least as benevolent as the next ethereal feline on the other side of the looking glass.

This piece will be available as a 9x12" print very soon!

I never stopped masking and in all these years I've had a total of one person ask me about it. Take your health and the health of vulnerable people seriously. The annoyance of a mask on your face for a few hours is way better than the down time and recovery from a respiratory infection.
Reminder: you should absolutely start wearing the best mask you can find in public spaces, even if you stopped before. We have no public health at the top level & repeat infections have ravaged immune systems.

If someone gives you a hassle, say "even if it's just a cold, I DON'T WANT THAT EITHER!"

You can do things and learn things and teach things and make things all day every day no algorithm no bot just you and your fabulous self
This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.

Sam Altman: "I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT."

We survivors in recovery are not going to get past feeling guilty for saying "no" overnight. That one's seared into our nervous system, deep. But we CAN commit to saying "no" when we need to, regardless of how we feel. Start w/ the behavior, & chip away at changing the feeling.

Good morning ❤️

eat
take your meds
hydrate
tell your people you love them
let them love you back

(and if you, like me, have come down with an unfortunate cold: tea & soup!)

We are here. This is real. Let's build a home for each other and fight like hell.

Reminders, as public health officials warn of a very bad flu season:

🧵

* Washing hands is not a strategy for a respiratory virus. N95s, ventilation, air filtration -- especially in hospitals.

* We should have been cleaning indoor air with the same effort we put into cleaning drinking water.

This is such a great point: “Finding people who want to provide trustworthy information to their communities could be one of the most useful ways to be of service (e.g. information about current and future pandemics, weather, or anything that affects oppressed communities).”
