😷 Covid Conscious, mask up
Pinned
In 1651 Scotland, in a small village in the Highlands, a woman named Maeve MacDonnell was—almost—burned at the stake for witchcraft.

For years, the villagers had been terrified of her and the ravens that haunted her steps...

If you still wear a mask at all, even just when sick or at the hospital or on public transit, THANK YOU!
If you still try to isolate or protect others when you are sick, THANK YOU.
If you still test for COVID when you have any symptoms, THANK YOU.

My wokest opinion is that every community deserves an extremely well-funded library that’s open to everyone and that librarians and teachers should make like ten times what they make now.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

The Walton family (who own Walmart) are worth over $400 billion, yet many of their employees are on SNAP.

Bezos is worth over $400 billion, many Amazon employees require SNAP.

The people who need help are not the problem.

It’s corporate greed. It’s an unwillingness to pay a living wage.

Wisdom, moral imagination, an enlarged sympathy for those who live or have lived differently from yourself. This is what you get from studying the Humanities. So quite important, actually.

I have a big issue with people treating fanfiction like it's something shameful. That calling a book a 'fanfic' is a dirty word. When fanfiction, in and of itself, is one of the oldest forms of storytelling, and in my opinion, is a legitimate sub-genre of literature.

“We are told by leaders that we are the future. But when it comes to the ongoing pandemic, our present is being stolen right in front of our eyes.”

Incredible speech by Violet Affleck who warned about the ongoing dangers of COVID & Long Covid, & advocated for masks and clean air at the UN today!

Telling people to “tough it out” when they’re sick is ableism.

Saying that autism is “unacceptable” is eugenics.

Bragging about the strong people who don’t take meds or vaccines? It infers that those who need medications are weak.

It’s all eugenics. This regime sees disabled people as less than.

Day 23 of #FantasyIndiesSeptember

Grammar rules that catch me out:

I'm from the US but I've lived in the UK for a long time, so I have to constantly double check all the alternate spellings, AND whether things are hyphenated or not between American and British English 😅

A mask to print and stick on the popular ARANET4 CO2 monitor is now available at letsair.org#masks. This helps inform occupants of a premise about the importance of good indoor air renewal to limit the spread of airborne diseases.

Hey a thing I really don’t want to get lost here is that while Tylenol doesn’t cause autism, IT’S FINE TO BE AUTISTIC. Let’s not grant them the premise that autism should be eradicated in our way to correct the science, okay? Okay.

Day 18 of #FantasyIndiesSeptember

Ooh well, the power-hungry character in A TEMPEST OF RAVENS is actually Maeve the MC 😆

She's a woman living in 1651 Scotland, and she's a witch trying to harness her chaotic magic—she definitely wants more power and to learn how to use it for good!

I must remind myself that revision is when a writer builds brilliant writing from the compost of the ordinary.

And honestly, "uninspired" writing is better than we think it is, and the more "uninspired" writing we do, the better we get
