I’m here for a social media site that doesn’t actively support fascism, transphobia, or racism, so we can build a world that doesn’t either. I’m used to disappointment.
Me: What’s going on in math class?

Child: We finished parabolas and started the quadratic equation, which is really fun! I love quadratic equations.

I don’t understand him, but I love him.

A lot of Dems are going to take Bovino and Noem being fired as the finish line, and it's very important to make it clear to them that it is a starting line

ICE and border patrol are not making our communities safer. They're terrorizing our communities. The Senate needs to stop funding for ICE, Kristi Noem needs to be impeached, and ICE needs to get their asses out of Minnesota.

If you really want a white man as a candidate for 2028, may I recommend Van Hollen over noted MAGA-friendly transphobic circus peanut Gavin Newsom.
"The real domestic terrorists are in the White House right now" -- Senator Van Hollen
Van Hollen: "They really think the American people are stupid. I mean, we can all see the video. We saw the video with Renee Good. We saw the video with Alex Pretti. The real domestic terrorists are in the White House right now."

Alex Jeffrey Pretti was the victim’s name.

He was a nurse.

ICE executed a nurse.

@mikethompson.house.gov I know you’re not part of this caucus. You’re a Blue Dog, but the time for bipartisanship has passed. Please join efforts like these. Progressive leadership is our only path forward right now. Where are you on this proposal?
The Congressional Progressive Caucus, a group of nearly 100 House Democrats, will announce later today that it's formally endorsing legislation to strip $175 billion from ICE and put it toward affordable housing. www.huffpost.com/entry/doj-fe...

@reptedlieu.bsky.social When you say they can’t trample rights, but agency heads say they can and should kill anyone who says no to them, who will agents follow?

What would make you say Abolish ICE? Do they have to shoot a rep? Because they will. It’s coming.

Dismantle.
Prosecute.
Abolish.
Note that invisibly before all of our very eyes: Each of these lawless acts, playing out, now close to literally every hour of every day, strengthens the bond between leader, henchmen and foot soldiers, and their collective investment to hold onto power.

This is why students see it as a way to write their essays: their success has always been measured in “words written” rather than “meaning made.” Our whole system prepared them to rely on a plagiarism-machines that make meaningless words and sound smart to people who aren’t paying attention. /1
Essentially, I think that LLM-generated dialogue only makes sense if you believe that the product of writing is words.

But the product of writing isn't words, any more than the product of justice is prisoners, or the product of love is weddings. The product of writing is meaning.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

If CEOs don't love what they do, then why do we trust them with whole companies? If they *do* love what they do, why do we have to pay them? If a CEO CEOs for anything but love of the organization, why would anyone want to work for them? They shouldn't CEO for money, is all I'm saying.
"You shouldn't make art for the money" buddy I'll take it one step further and say we shouldn't have to labor for capital at all but in the meantime pay an artist

There's a couple reasons so many IWW songs are set to the tunes of hymns and one is that the Salvation Army Band would show up and try to stop workers organizing by playing hymns to drown out speeches, so the Wobblies came up with words so they could sing along. SA has been trash all along.
It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.

Of all the wonderful lines in the newly late Tom Stoppard's Hamlet fanfic "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead," I come back to this one a lot, lately:

"There must have been a moment, at the beginning, when we could have said no. But somehow we missed it.

We'll know better next time."

I never tire of having this conversation with the older kid: “This song you’re loving is from TMBG’s Flood. It came out about 20 years before you were born. That’s like me jamming out to Perry Cuomo’s Hot Diggity in high school. It’s an oldie. You like old people music.”

This is a shocking, shocking revelation for Republican Mouthpiece The New York Times.

*Who* could have predicted that the Newspaper of Conservative Record would protect Republicans and attack Democrats?
At the same time the NY Times was hyping Hillary Clinton's emails, it had a reporter with emails from Jeffrey Epstein that were highly damaging to Trump.

The more NYT apologists try to minimize this the clearer it becomes that they don't understand why much of the public doesn't trust legacy media.

I took a meeting in my car today instead of grabbing a table. $SBUX closed my local store in retaliation for unionizing, so I’m not giving them money anymore, but in my house we don’t cross pickets even to make them look busy and successful and sit without buying to do Zoom!
As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX
