This is an example of a Democrat who takes his existing base for granted. He just assumes they're willing to be associated with *anyone* especially without precondition like they Jesus or something.
Raskin: We are a big tent. We must be a huge, vast tent. I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.

I wanted to share probably the most important sermon I’ve given and it’s while I’m being arrested. It’s torture pure and simple what happens at #Broadview. I’m ok, though I was thrown to the ground and choked with my pectoral cross. A review of the video shows I was peaceful - did I deserve this?

I want to note, esp since it seems relevant in the Summers case, that a depressing if unsurprising aspect of the Society for Classical Studies harassment survey data a few years ago was that women who were also ethnic or religious minorities faced vastly more harassment than white Protestant women.
Look, I know this weaponization of male academic interest is the oldest story in the book, but it’s just so, so pernicious. It’s awful to the women directly involved, but it’s also awful to *all* women in the academy, who have to live in its shadow all the time.

Of course the NYT erases and minimizes Alice.
She was never a teller of comfortable fictions for the elite.
The New York Times obit for Alice Wong doesn’t mention Covid or Gaza

It ignores two of her biggest causes because of political bias

Alice fought tirelessly for Covid mitigations

She fought for the people of Gaza

She rightfully reminded us that the genocide in Gaza is a disability justice issue

A hill I will die on is that you cannot be pro-Black and anti-queer at the same time.

Because queerness is more of an affirmation of our humanity than whatever bullshit colonizers violently enforced globally.
This is what ally ship looks like to me.

She ran as a moderate. Maybe you think that’s good and maybe you think that’s bad. All I am arguing is that the endless takes about how Democrats should pivot to the center should explain why it didn’t work in this election (there are good reasons!) rather than pretending she didn’t.

The answer is not to bring more shame, the answer is to de-stigmatize needing help.

Provide more robust social supports and ensure everyone has food, housing, healthcare and a living wage.

“We need to bring shame back to welfare”

There’s always been shame.

There shouldn’t be, but there is. It’s a dehumanizing process to apply for benefits.

The world judges you, treats you like a failure and many make it clear they would rather you die.

I've listened to several podcasts and read several articles on why people are souring on capitalism and they all don't mention Occupy which is weird to me because of nothing else they mainstreamed a lot of the language we use today. And it was a genuinely big deal at the time.

Guys, I don’t care if you are in the Pete Buttigieg fan club. He’s not going to be president without significant support from people of color, especially Black people, and being Republican light isn’t going to cut it. Argue with someone that knows less about the subject.

And if you think you’re better just because you live in a “blue” state or city, I’d suggest you might actually just be deeply insecure and trying to make that blue state identity stand in as a substitute for your character and empathy ✌🏻
