100%. I honestly believe political leaders ask too little of people. The thinking is you need an extraordinarily low bar - so ask people for money or to sign something. People want to be part of something and they're eager to do real meaningful work in defense of their community and their rights.
I have begun to think that Minnesota pushback to ICE was unique and a model because it gave people something to do. It wasn’t about just going out in streets for rallying purposes. People had a mission: videos, whistles, information and communication flow to communities. They had something to do.

I think people are really underestimating the harm of increasing hospitalizations for no reason. The healthcare system is already under a lot of stress and healthcare funds are not infinite.
When I think about measles I think about the number 1,000. Thats the number that epidemiologists use to explain harm from measles in children. With 1,000 cases, about 200 children will require hospitalization, 50 will develop pneumonia, and one to three will die.

I'm horrified that two lives were claimed but the situation displayed the best and the worst of us as a nation in stark relief. Everything we warned about has come to pass and every voter can decide if paying 50c less for a gallon of gas is worth their constitutional rights.
