Leave Twitter.
Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

Cas Mudde spells out what has become largely the consensus among researchers: moving right on immigration will not weaken the far right nor strengthen social democracy. If your reaction is "but in Denmark" please at least familiarize yourself with Danish politics

The ‘Danish model’ is the darling of centre-left parties like Labour. The problem is, it doesn’t even work in Denmark | Cas Mudde
This week’s local elections are the latest reminder that when social democrats move rightwards, they’re making a mistake, says academic and author Cas Mudde

I live in (what I think I'm correct in saying is) the most diverse constituency in the whole country - Dublin Central, D1 - *and* I'm old enough to remember what this place was like before significant immigration, and the idea that immigration hasn't been good for this country is fucking laughable

Every parent whose career has to do with online safety also bans Roblox.
Every game designer parent I know bans Roblox for their kids

Gonna ask ChatGPT if I should be surprised about this.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

Yeah, it's "behave as a confident, well-adjusted human being while you work towards becoming a confident, well-adjusted human being, because it'll help you move closer to being a confident, well-adjusted human being".
I think "fake it til' you make it" is genuinely a great bit of advice but people (understandably!) think it means "lie until you've duped everyone" when in reality it's much more "act like you belong here because you actually do and you need to get over yourself"

Reconciliation without reparation is one of supremacy's greatest sabotages of the act of repair. Whenever abuse is exposed, it offers free exoneration to the abuser at the expense of the abused, and calls it redemption. It's the traditional and popular response to abuse in our supremacist society.
Leaders of a Minnesota church community didn’t report a parishioner they knew had sexually abused girls for year.

They told his victims that once sins were “washed away in the blood of reconciliation,” they could never speak of them again.

Truly chilling, from @jlussenhop.bsky.social & Andy Mannix
Young Girls Were Sexually Abused by a Church Member. They Were Told to Forgive and Forget.
In Minnesota, leaders of an Old Apostolic Lutheran Church community enabled a child abuser by telling his victims that once the sins were “washed away in the blood of reconciliation,” they could never...

The layers of 2025 Fucking Bullshit™ in this story are many.

- Awful, stupid AI art.
- Awful, stupid assumptions on its politics from flag-shaggers.
- Stupid assumptions on what it's about from some lefties.

It's just shit all over.
It’s the exclusive everyone wanted, the story that will win next year’s Pulitzer…

I can reveal London’s giant AI generated Christmas artwork, the subject of much online mockery, is being torn down - and I honestly *genuinely* think you’ll never guess why. www.londoncentric.media/p/ai-artwork...
London's giant AI artwork to be torn down
The bizarre story of why a much-talked-about creation is being torn down. Plus: Docklands Light Railway extension, giant laser stalks the night sky, and more tales of Android phone theft rejection.

Happy International Mens Day. Men still do the most dangerous jobs. Are more likely to take their own lives. Experience perceived social penalties for being paternal, caring, sensitive etc. So, with consent, hug a man today. Fixing the patriarchy is in the best interests of men too!

I think one of the best things about Irish politics over the past decade is how the successive referendums showed activists how to build a popular base and use it to win, it worked with equal marriage, repealing the 8th and Catherine Connolly.
Can it win a GE? For that, Left unity is needed.
You need to energise your base and build outwards from there. If you hollow out your base to chase voters who are fundamentally uninterested in what you're selling, your vote will collapse. There's quite a lot of evidence to support this - the Danish Social Democrats are just the latest example

The way this Govenrment are treating some of the most vulnerable people in the world is disgusting.

And they the audacity to pretend it's coming from a place of compassion and concern.

Their only actual concern seems to be dancing to the tune of the far right rather than tackle inequality.

Rather than tackle inequality - they've gone for pensioners, disabled people and now it's people fleeing war and persecution.

They can't get away with this.

Ruby Bridges is 71. Emmett Till would have been 70.

The Civil Rights Act is only 61 years old. Loving is 58.

Less than a generation ago.
there are quite a few white folks who vividly recall and rather miss Jim Crow alive and voting in this country right now
I honestly don’t see how anyone can see it any other way if they are honest. Jim Crow was only ~60 years ago! Are we really pretending that the insane racism just suddenly disappeared? This is to say nothing of the hundreds of examples we all have of seeing casual racism in everyday life

The greatest moment in Irish football in years and years and years.
Troy Parrott. Echos of Robbie Keane's goal against Germany in 2002. What a moment. #COYBIG 🇮🇪

This lad.

(Troy Parrott, inner-city Dubliner, only in the team because Evan Ferguson is injured, scores two on Thursday to beat Portugal, says it's the best night of his life. Today he gets three to beat Hungary and put us through to the World Cup playoffs. Last-minute winner too. INCREDIBLE.)
Yup Sheriffer!
(Nice one, entire country is crying)
