Creating a military conflict with Venezuela gives this administration a legal "hook" to invoke the Alien Enemies Act. In other words, the foreign war is being manufactured in order to facilitate court deference for its domestic mass deportation policy. It's a Stephen Miller Special.

You can have the backing of every single tech billionaire, but it will not give you The Vibe, no matter how good a beard you grow or if you leave your wife and children for the blonde white widow of a dead propagandist.
not so much uncharismatic as anticharismatic. all the charisma within a 10 mile radius ups and leaves as soon as he starts speaking.

Many soldiers raise their hands.

"Want to be able to leave the house?
"I leave the house all the time"
"But ur a hideous monster"

'HIDEOUS MONSTER"
"I barely think about it"
"LEPER"
"It's nothing"
"FREAK"

Lore drop:
In my twenties I briefly lived above a dive bar in Mississippi that had karaoke on Friday nights, and there was one guy who sang Wagon Wheel a minimum of five times every Friday, getting progressively more drunk with each iteration.
Wait really? I cannot escape Darius Rucker’s cover. And even though I love Hootie & the Blowfish (I’m from the SC Lowcountry, it’s basically required), I could do without hearing his version of WW again.

I’m starting to get the sense that it was a bad idea to put a deeply insecure, sexual assaulting Fox News host with a drinking problem and a crusader tattoo who said he was into war crimes in charge of the military.

"Beware of any Christian movement that acts as though the world is full of enemies to be destroyed rather than full of neighbors to be loved.

Beware of any Christian movement that demands the government be an instrument of God's wrath, but never a source of God's mercy, generosity, or compassion."

As always when I post about being trans, a reminder: if you support me because I'm "normal" or "reasonable" or whatever because I dress like an old man & go to church, but you don't support all my trans siblings, then you don't actually support me at all, & I encourage you to do some soul searching.

Without farmworkers we wouldn’t be able to celebrate Thanksgiving. Be thankful for their hard work this holiday season!

Sin los trabajadores agrícolas no podríamos celebrar el Día de Acción de Gracias. ¡Agradece su arduo trabajo en estas fiestas!

There's a man from Ontario who built himself a houseboat and is currently sailing the Great Lakes to Chicago and plans (I guess after a long downriver journey) to sail from the Gulf of Mexico to Africa and honestly, godspeed buddy.

Thanksgiving is the most American holiday, even moreso than 4th of July IMO, because it's simultaneously grounded in a mythology that papers over the horrors that lie in our history while also celebrating the very best of our mixed culture despite being constantly encroached on by consumerism.

These workers are harvesting celery. They use a curved blade to cut and trim the bunches. It is often packaged right in the field by another crew of workers.

Fresh herbs (whether sold fresh or processed by drying) are delicate. They are often hand harvested, like this parsley in Ventura County, CA.
