Minneapolis's rapid response is working. You can see on the ground that it's working. But you can also see WHY it's working. It's not the secrecy (which, frankly, is a mirage). It's the numbers, and rules of engagement which refuse to create an obvious foothold for opponents.

This is the remarkable thing. Walkable cities have an advertising budget of $0, but people still long for them. Give the people what they want.

A refusal to reflect on success or failure and no vision of organizing or coordination beyond setting the 'tone' and being the 'face' of the city. So glad he's no longer in leadership.

Important compilation.

People have a right to record federal agents. Know your rights. Exercise them if you can.

You honestly can reform ICE quite easily. Throw every single officer who commits these crimes in prison. You'll be left with a much smaller force, but you'll be left with a force that is scared of breaking the law (which should itself, of course, be reformed).
One armed goon loses his shit at an observer who's backing up, and then several more armed goons tackle the observer to the ground, and then even more armed goons form a protective shield around the armed goons handcuffing the observer for hurting an armed goon's feelings.

This can't be "reformed"

I may get some flack for saying this, but ensuring prosecution of all officers involved is FAR more important than 'Abolish ICE.' Trump and his regime don't need ICE to terrorize the populous. If there is not swift, certain and severe punishment for those perpetrating violence, they will find a way.
Majority of the country now wants to abolish and/or dismantle ICE and yet Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. told the caucus the message had to be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”

Once again it looks like Schumer is about to choke after getting a massive opportunity.

So pathetic and weak.

I want to say this too: this victory was won because we had observers EVERYWHERE. ICE and CBP couldn't set foot in our city without cameras rolling. Much of the nation seemed determined to ignore our plight for weeks, but the avalanche of documentation we produced dragged the nation to us.

The killing of Alex Pretti and the grotesque lying was an overreach by the administration. They've paid a price and had to pull back a bit. But it's when there's some disarray that the democratic opposition needs to intensify the offensive, and turn a marginal tactical success into a major victory.
