Wasn't one of them in a neo-Nazi punk band and "Ace of Base" was the nickname of a Nazi warship and loads of their songs have dogwhistle lyrics(the happy nation, the sign) and it's not weird at how guys like that kicked off the Swedish takeover of pop music?

Probably nothing to worry about.
I don't understand how Ace Of Base escaped a war crime trial for what they did to Cruel Summer. This lack of punishment obviously lead us to where we are today with the world.

It took nearly a decade for a fiction film to be made at feature length and even then, it was based in fact. THE STORY OF THE KELLY GANG (1906) was an ambitious Australian biopic of the famous armored bushranger

An ill omen.

There's something very on brand for Dublin about this. Building something as a temporary stopgap, putting 'temporary' ("pro tempore") in the name, doing nothing more for 200 years, and then eventually going "OK lads let's just stick with this one cos we're clearly never going to build the other one"

In other words, Dublin will not have her own Sagrada Familia, a true Catholic cathedral worthy of this city's contribution to the global faith. Something a tourist might want to take a selfie in front of that also keeps a thousand artists in full time employment for the rest of their lives.

Some of those "most woke opinions" people have in that thread - quite authoritarian, actually!

(yeah I know one of mine leaned that way a bit)

I have another one: money should expire after a number of years. Inflation makes money expire too, it just does so in a way that makes poor people poorer and rewards passive income.

At least expiring money is fair and can be planned for.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

At the very least the Irish should be able to pick out five things from the vatican museum and take it back home.
November 14, 2025 at 12:05 PM
A bit cheeky, but I think Ireland should declare war on the Vatican. We're not going to invade them or anything, just treat their allies/agents in Ireland as traitors or spies, use emergency powers to sieze church assets, that sort of thing.

We won't do anything to them that they didn't do to us ❤️

"Guess again, dickhead!"

They said that everyone except Banville was overjoyed to hear of Banville's good fortune.

Banville, however, dreaded nights of small talk at deplorable functions with €9 wine, poseurs, the loud, mispronounced canapés, and Boyne.
