Lotta people making fun of the tangerine toddler here, but before you bring up the ICP and say you learned about magnets in elementary school, you 100% need to know special relativity to understand the fundamentals of electromagnetism.

Coming from Trump, I would rate this as a rare "mostly true."

9th Circuit just made anti-SLAPP laws (like the good ones in California and Nevada) a lot less effective. This is going to lead to a ton of suppressed speech. Stupid and dangerous. Especially now.

We need a federal anti-SLAPP law now. And we won't get one.

Ah so it's not just Larry Ellison and Marc Andreessen, but the Murdochs too?

Remember how the Democrats went all in supporting this idea based on a moral panic? Any of them want to admit they fucked up?

Overdressed for my first day at Reddit as I’m giving a talk at the Practicing Law Institute later. Didn’t wear a suit though, so at least I’m only slightly overdressed (and slightly underdressed for my talk).

The linked headline's "unexpected" is ridiculous. Every person who worked in this space (specifically, not legislators) said, correctly, that this would happen. It should be replaced with "predicted" or "standard" or "obvious." This is not an untried policy! See also FOSTA/SESTA.
New: I looked at 90 porn sites to test the new age-verification law rewriting the web. The ones following the rules, and scanning visitors' faces, are crumbling, while the lawbreakers are doubling or tripling their traffic. ‘Scan your face’ laws for the web are having unexpected consequences
The new age-verification laws in the United States and United Kingdom have brought some surprising downsides, including soaring traffic to seedy parts of the web.

As someone whose main thought about Eric Adams during his first mayoral campaign was, wow, he is a really, really WEIRD dude, I personally don’t feel let down by him at all. If anything, I feel like he’s exceeded expectations.

I published a blog post on my second last day as a Mozillian 😢.

A long-running lawsuit in Germany is considering whether ad blockers violate copyright law -- a bad ruling would undermine user choice and create serious risks for privacy and security.

For those enduring the heat wave in the north eastern US you might like to know that it's so cold in San Francisco right now that my central heating just turned on.

It's foggy, windy and 55F outside and my house's thermostat is set to 67F. #SummerInSanFrancisco

It’s almost like there are really good reasons legitimate law enforcement doesn’t normally operate masked and in civvies.
So according to ICE, there was a pack of armed masked men *pretending* to be them at Dodger Stadium?

Uh ....
This is so pathetic. They really think that we will trust their word over our own eyes, again and again. This kind of Big Lie was far more effective pre-ubiquitous camera phones.

The Minnesota shooter apparently used data broker websites to find the home addresses of the people he shot and murdered.

Congress has had years to do something about data brokers and they've sided with the tech lobby over and over again.

Their inaction is deadly.

I once met John Cusack when he visited EFF and I successfully resisted the temptation to ask him for two dollars. There should be some kind of award for this.

He spent most of the visit happily playing with the office dogs on the patio.

Lol

Just this week I did a comically bad job patching a hole in a wall in my house but in my defense my plan is to (hopefully) completely redo that bathroom before too long (and most certainly not do that myself)
One thing about homeownership is you spend an afternoon cutting a piece of wood to odd dimensions to cover a hole in the attic floor where someone needed access to the bedroom ceiling, patched it with a piece of particle board that someone stepped through, and covered that with a disintegrating mat.
