I guess the dwindling band of Starmer-loyalists will soon be defecting to the Greens, and lecturing those remaining in the Labour fold about the dangers of splitting the anti-Reform vote?

Or they could just acknowledge that what's really splitting that vote is the behaviour of Starmer's government

It certainly feels different but the next step up will be hard as existing facilities are filling up.

I guess it’s a compliment that the top story on BBC London’s TV/online output today is a direct lift of a month-old London Centric story? But once again the BBC is consistently the worst news outlet for actually remembering to credit others.

Labour's anti-asylum policies are already fundamentally inhumane and discriminatory. Applying them retrospectively is pure cruelty though. It serves absolutely no purpose. Meanwhile it will increase the costs and bureaucracy of an already dysfunctional Home Office.

Took the new 3A route to the rail station today with all the family. Fast and direct, and made possible by the Congestion Charge. Buses seemed fuller, driver said CC had reduced congestion. Surprising I know.

Look, for fuck’s sake, humans have been migrating continuously for our entire existence.

Every single human in the world is the product of migration.

It’s what humans do. There is nothing *more* human.

That’s never going to change.

Just grow up, get the fuck over it and plan accordingly.

More Labour MPs starting to express public unease at these proposals. Lots more saying so privately...
The Prime Minister said in September that we are at a fork in the road. These asylum proposals suggest we have taken the wrong turning.

The idea that recognised refugees need to be deported is wrong.

The only Legitimate Concerns about asylum seekers are concerns for their well being and safety. For a rich country like ours to incessantly whine about these people as if we are their victims is perhaps the single most pathetic spectacle in British politics over the past quarter century.
No, I'd say it's racists and those pandering to them.

My granddad was a refugee, my wife, our close friends and those of our kids are either immigrants or the children of immigrants.

Do ministers ever think about the message their rhetoric on "handouts" and "golden tickets" for migrants sends about whether this is a government for people like us?

To be clear, what is being proposed here is to axe the main mechanism for getting Britain’s homes insulated - which is by FAR the best way to reduce household energy bills in the long term 🤦‍♂️

Yep, Labour voting with the Tories and Reform to scrap Oxford's Congestion Charge after 6 days, without bothering to wait and see any results.

Given early signs indicate that the buses are speeding up (but not confirmed yet), this is directly opposing improved buses.
The vote on Oxford’s Congestion Charge is taken and goes broadly along party lines.

For removing the charge: 22 (Con, Lab, Ind)
Against removing the charge: 36 (LibDem, Green, Henley)
Abstain: 2 (Will Boucher-Giles, LibDem for Chesterton; Emma Markham, Green for Shrivenham)
