"The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men." - Plato
Many Americans are willfully ignorant. It like a badge of honor for they.
I was talking to my friend about injustice the other day. He made the point that sometimes people intentionally go out of their way to not understand or remain ignorant. I’m realizing some Americans want to be ignorant of US foreign policy. Many don’t care about anyone but themselves.

I feel your pain. My FIL passed away early this year, it has been a nightmare getting everything sorted out for MIL, because she is deaf as a post and they insist on talking to her and threaten to hang up when I have to repeat the questions to her. 😡
My dad was very hard of hearing, so my name was on all his accounts. I tried to change his electric bill once and they insisted on speaking to him. After several tries they gave up and talked to me. I'm so sad for all the elders who can't understand all of this. My dad didn't have a computer!

My FIL passed away early this year, trying to get his account in order and set MIL up with her surviver benefits was a nightmare. Couldn't make an appointment at the local office online or by phone, kept running me in circles. Finally got a human after being on hold for 2 hours. 😡
I had this thought the other day . I had to call SS for a simple question, unfortunately it's all AI .. so basically it will circle back around to the same prompts until you figure out what key words to use ... I m middle 60s and got frustrated.. I can't imagine being older navigating these systems

I love Sheetz and Wawa, but mom and pop gas stations in the South often have a hot food deli and usually the food is amazing.
Wawa is good, but if you have Sheetz in your area? I think they're even a little better, but this is very much a matter of personal taste. I respect all gas stations that don't suck.

Yep, the November election in Virginia had a record turnout. People are waking up.
i'd say the midterm-level turnout for a special election is even more ominous than the swing

Everyone thinks of Kirk or Denny Crane when they hear Shatner's name, both are great characters, but many don't realize Shatner has played some true SOB's. The Intruder, Roger Corman's drama, cast Shatner as a white surpremist trying to start a race war over school integration.
THE TENTH LEVEL was a made-for-TV drama, 50 years ago, starring William Shatner in one of his most powerful performances ever. It was inspired by the Stanley Milgram obedience research experiments, which studied the willingness to “just follow orders.” youtu.be/wzV_Z6EXhpE

I'd like to see a break down of individual stores, I don't believe Target had a great Black Friday.
I call bullshit. I think the media have been instructed to say this, so it’s another perceived win for Tr🐷mp’s cult. No one I know did any shopping. We dropped friends off nearby and Costco parking lot was not full. Everything in the news is skewed for the giant baby.

So much for the boycott
Consumers spent $9.1 billion online through 6:30 p.m. EST on Monday, marking a 4.5% increase year-over-year.

I've noticed that as well. They felt like they were written by adults, who had truly experienced life. I don't like many of the current shows because the writing is so bad. The writing often comes off as poorly written fanfiction instead of well structured story telling.
90's tv feels like it did woke better than '10s did.
Is it because the 90's were the last decade when writers that lived through ww2 were still active?

Or am I biased because I'm watching sci fi which has always been a vehicle for examining society?

I lived in Montgomery County, TN for several years over my 2 tours with the 101st. It’s part of the 7th CD now. It was represented by Marsha Blackburn then. Today I hope my neighbors there will get out and vote for @aftynbehn.bsky.social They deserve a rep that cares about them and will fight.

I still can't believe Code of Honor ever made it to production. It was so bad on so many levels.
Me as I was reading it: It’s either the Code of Honor writer or the one who fired McFadden

I may know more about Star Trek than is healthy…

ICE should have never been created, and should have ended long ago. Border Patrol needs a complete reconstruction.
I’ve never been a “defund the police” type of guy. I believe that police are necessary, despite their flaws.

But ICE is different. I am 100% behind ending their existence and prosecuting every single one of them.

ICE must go. End of discussion.

All the main cast except Terry Ferral have strong theater backgrounds, that's one reason their acting is so good. Plus the writing is great.
Watched the first 2 eps of DS9 (except Paramount+ made it all one ep). I like the father-son relationship between Siskon& Jake. It's realistic. And Odo is my favorite (I like grouches). I think the guy who plays Sisko.must have done a lot of stage acting because he seems like a stage actor to me..1/

Now I'd like to see that. It would have to be a comedy, maybe a heist film. Minnie is awesome shucking to everyone but is actually the brains behind the operation.
Two most unlikely costars you can think of for a movie that wasn't ever made.

I'll go first:

Michael Caine and Minnie Pearl.
