I genuinely don't understood how America took the emoluments clause -- the common-sense bar on a president using his powers to line his own pockets, a law children can understand -- and just said, nah, that doesn't apply for our Very Special Boy.
He’s turned the presidency into the world’s largest ATM machine.

You're paying for this.

Trump's Big Ugly Bill gave BILLIONS to ICE and giant corporations—using money meant to lower your health care costs.

Instead of helping your mom get cancer treatment, your tax dollars are being used to terrorize communities.

Someone resurrected this thread as potentially helpful for instructors trying to figure out how to manage disruptions to schoolwork due to ICE occupation.

If it’s helping, I’m happy to repost it too:
In light of today’s conversation on academic accommodations, I’m going to revive a thread lost to time when I deleted my Twitter profile.

It’s about a bunch of academic accommodations that instructors can offer in lieu of an extension on an assignment. 🧵

I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

THE PROBLEM ISN'T TRAINING. Jonathan Ross was a 9-year veteran of ICE, and his quick-draw shooting of Renee Good was smooth and practiced. The answer to brutality isn't better-trained brutality, the answer is to abolish ICE root and branch

Even if we believe ICE’s pretexts (and we shouldn’t), this is a STUPID way to do a law enforcement operation.

in other words, the more we demand we abolish ICE, the more other people will tell us that’s unpopular, or unstrategic. that’s why they are saying that: because it is becoming popular, and it is strategic (if your goal is “end ICE violence,” not “protect some Democrats from taking a stand on ICE”)

A piece of broccoli. A corn tortilla. A piece of chicken. Drag them harder.
People are rightly dogging her for "It can cost around $3 a meal for a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, corn tortilla and one other thing. And so, there is a way to do this that actually will save the average American consumer money," but I'm losing it over 'We've run over 1,000 simulations."

This! ... Also you might want to think about what you say in public. We can be cavalier, thinking nobody is really listening.
I need people who don’t live in the Twin Cities to stop telling people not to join massive Signal groups right now. People are doing it. They’re going to keep doing it. Give them good advice about it.

The actually practical advice is don’t say anything to 1000 strangers you wouldn’t say in public

People need to stop pretending the U.S. government isn’t actively rebranding as a white supremacist movement.

🚨 The Trump administration has rolled out a coordinated campaign across departments, using imagery and messaging straight from right-wing and white nationalist circles.
