THREAD.

My parents' cat Bridget vanished. As the weeks dragged on they became ever more worried, so to distract himself my dad began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up at some of art & music's most important moments.

I've collected his work here...

Very sad to hear about a fatal hit and run of a cyclist who was riding to work on Westminster Highway today. A really dangerous shoulder on this road, Richmond must do better. (1/2)

ICE’s murder of Renee Good has been a clarifying moment — and not only for Americans.

It also exposed some Canadians.

Notably, the Toronto Sun’s Ottawa bureau chief — who called the ICE bullets fired at Good “well-deserved.”

Let’s talk Canadian media the impact of who has a platform:

It's a huge moment for Canadian journalism as today marks the beginning of a five-week trial in the B.C. Supreme Court where @thenarwhal.ca and Amber Bracken sue the RCMP for arresting Amber while she was doing her job, bearing witness.

Pleased to announce my Bluesky post below already has more engagement than the top tweet on X from Canada’s governing Liberal caucus
Do Canadian MPs actually connect with the public on X?

I looked at RTs and views for every tweet* sent by Liberal MPs yesterday

Out of 46 tweets, 21 Liberal MPs racked up a combined 475 retweets

34% had zero RTs. Only 17% got more than 10 RTs

3 tweets accounted for over half of all engagement

What’s with the Conservatives supporting paedophilic and sexual abusive behaviour. This is the second time in just as many weeks? I see more Conservatives up in arms about possibly banning Twitter than the safety of women and children

If Solomon and Carney can’t handle this slam-dunk — if they can’t even bring themselves and their government to stop supporting and using a CSAM platform — there is absolutely no reason to think they will do any better on literally any other file that affects US interests.

Folks in Canada watching this horror unfold should not think of it as an American problem.
During a housing crisis, alarming food insecurity, and cuts to every meaningful social support at the federal and provincial level Canada is hiring more CBSA agents & increasing border & military spending.

Doing more, longer ago, than the current minister of AI
In 2024, I rose in Senate QP to ask why the Govt of Canada was still using X for official communications. Today, they are still there. What exactly will it take to break the spell?
A proliferation of sexual deepfakes on X has prompted other countries to investigate Grok, the platform’s AI software, but, so far, Ottawa remains silent.

Hello Tim Cook I worked at Tumblr when you gave us 48 hours to get rid of all the consenting, adult boobs. Up all night at your whim, out of the blue. But you're still cool with Twitter and its CSAM and revenge porn and whatever the fuck this is? Why do you even HAVE guidelines?
Previously, several of these companies, like Apple, IBM, and Disney, have paused advertising on X in response to antisemitic content. But antisemitism on X never slowed, sexual abuse imagery increased, and all of these companies quietly resumed advertising anyways.

Why isn't there a bigger Grok boycott?
Advertisers, politicians, and investors are still all-in on X, despite a sexual abuse crisis.
