More importantly than it wouldn’t work: they made their choice. Not just the reactionaries but mainstream media and other elites. They shrug off Musk and our crisis and prop that platform up. It will hurt all of us but they chose it and we can’t save them from the crash out.
People are losing their minds on Twitter and becoming more trick lazy, sloppy and radicalised because the libs are not there to argue against and challenge. Come back.

[Because OKC lost]

I love the NBA cup. Clearly the players bring their best - it is nice to have meaningful games so early in the season. By the time the playoffs roll around the teams look completely different. I like seeing who is the best as constituted initially for the beginning of the season.

There is certain cohort of older white men that hear of a situation that is complicated or multifaceted and simply can’t help themselves from offering the civil war as an example of something that didn’t have just one cause.

Eagerly volunteering the worst possible example every time.

This is a narrow and irrelevant point. Crisises don’t need to manifest nationwide to matter. The crisis is in 2-3 dozen major metros. But - critically - the problems there spill out to the region. Not primarily as housing issues rather as a slew of urban needs being foisted upon rural communities.
What, precisely, is the crisis? When will it be resolved? People have been talking about housing crises since the 80s. I agree that there’s a long-run upward drift in housing costs; I agree some high-cost metros have real issues. But what are we seeing right now that’s a nationwide crisis?
Stancil being a housing crisis denier is the darnedest thing

the invasion of Afghanistan is among the most horrific recent chapters of the long history of elite impunity in the US. this coda is grim but fitting - the govt practically explicitly affirming that it should only be Afghans who live with the consequences amid fading public memory of the atrocity

I feel this in my bones yet I believe it plausible we eventually make it through to a more productive and better information ecosystem. A ubiquitous and pervasive Internet has been around only about 30 years - barely a blip historically. We need a completely new set of institutions and practices.
don't really care how this makes me sound at this point, but the free open internet was a mistake and a lot of people out there were clearly never going to be able to handle it

There are anti-trans people that claim they are simply sick of hearing about trans issues all the time but this path all but guarantees you will never escape it. Assigned birth gender need not be even mentioned in 99.99% of sport - scrutinizing it at every level is a weird way to talk about it less
I’ve spent a lot of the last three years investigating the rise of anti-trans politics. Often, it came back to the controversy over trans women athletes.

So I teamed up with @pablo.show to look into the leading figure on the issue: Riley Gaines.

This recent period of the racist patriarchy lashing out and attempting to reassert itself only proves how wrong centrists are in their core criticism of the left: “They are over reacting.”

Ken Burns truthfully finds the American Revolution dull as shit. Dragged his feet on doing it but eventually got cornered. He borrowed himself time. But since sweet death decided to spare him until now, they eventually found a way to make him do it.

People aren’t actually mad about the shut down. They are mad the one fight erupting ended.

Next to no one protesting at no kings, held during a government shutdown, ostensibly because of healthcare, had signs about the shutdown or HC.

Nothing would have been good enough. We want our country back.
