Another day - another pogrom. Dozens of settlers attacked two villagers, torching houses and vehicles. This happens daily now.

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

Predictable but still amazing to watch people who spent literally years accusing every librarian, teacher, and trans person they could find of sexually grooming children suddenly throw themselves in with "actually it's ephebophilia"
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

What doesn't get highlighted enough: bans on trans care almost never end just at healthcare specific to us. They're often a cover for just refusing to treat trans people period, for anything.

Broken bone? Surgery complications? Infection? Bigoted medical institutions are happy to let us die.
U.S. catholic bishops criticizing Trump's crackdowns obscured that at the same conference they tried to make sure way more trans people die due to a lack of life-saving medical care.

Catholic hospitals see 1 in 7 patients. In some areas they're the only medical system:

in online corners like these I think people largely recognize how credulous, unprincipled opposition to "wokeness" functioned as lightly papered over defenses of impunity, but it's one of those drums people should probably start beating for normies
Something absolutely perfect about Larry Summers riffing about the scourge of woke cancel culture being unfair to predatory men in a friendly email to his pal JEFFREY EPSTEIN.

We looked back on the "backlash" against American Eagle ads featuring Sydney Sweeney and her "great jeans." Right-wing media declared that liberals were outraged and thought the ads were racist -- even the White House joined in.

If you thought that story reeked, you'll want to see what we found.
American Eagle was dragged into an online outrage cycle after conservative media figures claimed that liberals were offended by the clothing company's ads featuring Sydney Sweeney and a denim-themed pun about her "great jeans."

We checked the data. That wasn't true.

PLAN TO CUT COSTS AT YOUR LOCAL UNIVERSITY:

STEP 1: Eliminate all academic departments.

STEP 2: Hire consultant to interpret 99% drop in enrollment.
It’s interesting how we are asked to justify why there is an English Department at a college but not why there is an athletics program

I think both are valuable but it’s interesting which one is more likely to be on the ropes, again, at a college

"Democracy dies if prominent black writers don't frame their arguments around appeasing white voters in Wisconsin," or "Democracy dies unless liberal writers praise radical, hateful conservative activists" is the subtext. And it's worth thinking through who makes these kinds of arguments and why.
We are edging close to an argument that all left public figures need to think like political strategists first, constantly measuring the impact of their work on the Democratic Party's electoral prospects. We saw that frame used against racial justice protesters in 2020-22; Gaza protesters in 2024.
Everyone, as Coates acknowledges, thinks that politicians need to win more voters. Obama and Harris can't sound like Coates. Coates agrees! But Klein argues that political culture (so the writing of people like Coates) shapes politicians and hints Coates should be mindful of that.
