Under pressure: The media physics of political scandals
The story of Angela Rayner and her stamp duty underpayment is the latest example of someone facing "mounting pressure" but where does it come from?

Ridiculous situation. A man who has spent the last thirty years being one of the most inventive, prolific and funniest stand-ups out there. You should make a beeline for this, I'd say.
Very few people coming to Ice Cream for a Broken Tooth but I have decided not to worry - I will create different experiments every night- and if there are eight people there , so be it -I will be fully committed

I wrote about Epstein’s suicide and how the disbelief about it shows a lack of familiarity with how inhuman America’s prison’s are. It remains one of the things that made people maddest (not saying jail is bad, disbelieving he was murdered).

A memorable trip to Bo'ness last night for the opening of Sylvia Dow's impressive and moving new play Blinded By The Light at the remarkable Barony Theatre. The play is partly about the lost battle to save the local colliery in 1982 so fitting that the Kinneil Band were on hand to welcome folk in.

LAST CALL FOR #REMEMBEREDMUMS

Please could I have any late mothers in by 8 pm tonight (Saturday 29th), so I can finalise the list and get it printed out for first thing tomorrow, cheers.

DMs open until 8 pm. x
Mothering Sunday next week. I'll be reading out the names of our #RememberedMums in church on the morning of Sunday March 30th. If you'd like to add your late mother's name, let me know. It can be oddly comforting to know her name will be typed out and said aloud once again. Reposts welcome. ❤️ 👑

The tech companies want this amendment to copyright because they’ve already stolen everything and want retrospective immunity, right? Exemption from the rules cos information wants to be free and all that BS.

Have written to my MP and, again, explained the idea of “property”.
1/ If the Government goes ahead with its proposals on AI, it will give tech companies the ability "to take what they like, when they like, without informing or compensating the writers of the work they use to train their models," says WGGB President Sandi Toksvig

5 minutes on Radio 4 that will have felt like 5 years for all concerned at the Six o clock news, and an unflappable continuity announcer. Just about managing to avoid enough dead air to trigger a Trident Nuclear attack. We’re close enough to WW3 as it is. #Radio4 #Gremlins

Here to support the Observer & Guardian journalists… to sell off the Observer would have appalled CP & John Scott. It would be a betrayal of their commitment to the truth.
Today is the Observer’s 233rd birthday. And the first of 4 strike days. I grew up in South Wales in the shadow of the miners’ strike. Extraordinary to be joining a picket line outside what I believed was my liberal progressive news org all these years later.

We’re so grateful for your support & ✊
