Microsoft, Google, Meta and Amazon paying influencers $400k-$600k to post months of AI hype content. Absolutely busted, failed industry, embarrassing era

Google and Microsoft offer lucrative deals to promote AI, but even $500,000 won't sway some creators
Tech companies including Google and Microsoft are paying influencers hundreds of thousands of dollars to promote AI products.

The CIA World Factbook, a reliable source of information about the countries of the world, has been publicly available since 1997. It is now going away.

Please consider supporting @wikipedia.org and @ourworldindata.org. The world desperately needs trustworthy data.

I was first introduced to CIA World Factbook when I did Model UN and have used it ever since...it probably deserves some credit in shaping my curiosity about the world. The nation is diminished by its deletion.
They closed the CIA World Factbook and deleted it entirely.

This is how Sen. Ron Wyden clues the public into activity that he finds extremely alarming. He does a press release about a letter he sent to the director of the CIA that basically says, 'I want to make sure you saw the classified letter I sent early today.' www.wyden.senate.gov/imo/media/do...

I’ve noticed over the last year or so that a meaningful number of people at my company don’t read (anymore).
I feel like we haven’t fully reckoned with the with the implications of the reality that in the past generation, many have lost the ability to concentrate long enough to read a book.

A new study from Anthropic finds that gains in coding efficiency when relying on AI assistance did did not meet statistical significance; AI use noticeably degraded programmers’ understanding of what they were doing. Incredible.

So the internal ChatGPT-equivalent went out at work today and a manager asked “what should I do?” … I almost replied “use your brain” 🤡

Though there is some dated language, Eric Hoffer’s True Believer is one of my favorite books ever. I’ve got like 10 pages to go. So well written and essential reading for understanding mass movements (what we’re living through). Shout out my dad (I love you, Dad) for recommending.

I know things are negative right now, but there’s a really inspiring movie in theaters starting today about a woman who worked up from being Jeffrey Epstein’s employee to being his best friend’s wife.

when the news is so so heavy, spend time alone or with the people who heal and rejuvenate you, or who you work with easily. you know? alone is better than with people who drain you. enjoy the little things, too. for me? making playlists, good coffee, funny writing, stopping to meet the puppies.

Part of the white nationalist, Turner Diaries fantasy is to instigate a “race war.” (Of course that was supposed to be *against* the federal government, but now that they are in control of it I guess it’s flipped around)
The actions of the U.S. federal government are going to stir up an insurgency in American cities. Part of me thinks that was their game plan all along.
I am watching what is happening in Minneapolis on Ali Velshi and one of the ICE officers (off camera) literally says, “It’s like Call of Duty. Pretty cool huh?” as they shoot whatever it is they are shooting. Agents walking around, guns unholstered for no reason. This is insanity
