They raided the jailed children to steal their letters.

The problem, in federal officials' minds, wasn't confining children in prison-camp conditions; it was that the children could tell the public about it.
“I don’t want to be in this place I want to go to my school.”

- 7 year old imprisoned by ICE for 70 days in a concentration camp in Texas.

Today, after @propublica.org published this story, the camp was raided to confiscate letters from the children.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

This is a vivid, horribly relevant read. “She does not sleep well. And as you lift up her pajama top to check her rash one morning, you see that her breathing is labored, shadows pooling between her ribs when she sucks in air. You suffer an icy moment of realization: This is a medical crisis.”

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

Trump wants to make Greg Bovino the fall guy. He thinks we won’t remember that Vance, Noem, and Miller all called Pretti a terrorist and still refuse to hold his murderers accountable.

We can’t let them get away with it.

Once again: Focusing on their lack of training is a mistake. With "better training," their violence would simply cost more, and they would still kill whoever they wanted, but make it look more professional — to make people more comfortable, the way many of you are at ease with local police violence.

I think what I’ve come to is that there’s no point in a shutdown, so it’s good to get the best bill possible passed, even if it’s still not great, and it’s also good if the senators who vote for it face primary challenges or lose because of it.

Bipartisan negotiators released a DHS funding bill that does not significantly reduce ICE and CBP’s funding nor rein in the agencies’ abuses of power.

Make no mistake: Any Democrat who votes for this bill is complicit in Trump’s campaign of terror.

Grow a spine and vote no.

ICE descended on New Jersey thinking they could operate quietly. They were wrong. People showed up in the streets, outside their Hyatt hotel base in Morristown, and made it public. No secrecy. No compliance. No fear. This is what resistance looks like.

Don’t F with New Jersey🔥

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

The Senate Democrats!

Truth. Yet Schumer pledges: "We will keep fighting." No.

We fought and won battles for them on Tuesday, only to be betrayed on Sunday.

We the people (and some of us a lot more than others) are tired of being betrayed by corporations, media, and the representatives who don't represent us.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

I'm real real close to feeling like we can't ever know who these 8 took the fall for, so maybe we should just throw them all out and start from scratch.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

okay, so, with Dems successfully keeping anyone up in 2026 for voting for this turd let's take a look at who's up in 2026 anyway:

1. Cory Booker - apparently involved behind the scenes, constantly looking for bipartisanship. I don't dislike him personally but he doesn't have what we need. Primary.

More Senate Dems than will vote yes tonight actually want to vote yes.

They’re letting colleagues who aren’t under threat of being primaried serve in the role of rotating villain and take the heat—and they’ll make statements claiming they’re against caving.

LOTS of disingenuous political theater.

PEOPLE. ARE. STARVING. Can they eat the rules of procedure? No? THEN FEED THEM.

The purpose of a system is what it does. And if the rules of procedure allow people to starve, they're wrong.

Serious question: does there come a point where everyone admits that Constitutional originalism is just a made-up vibe-based philosophy that gives Republican judges a pretext for ruling however it is that Republicans want them to rule?

It seems clear—I think to everyone, now—that a false and illegal invocation of the Insurrection Act is coming before the end of the year. Media outlets should be telling us how they will prepare for this potential Treason. State governments should be telling us. Activists should be developing plans.

Shutting our government down, hurting Americans, to protect pedophiles.

How this isn’t the biggest scandal in American history is beyond me.
