Journalists, please remember that repeating obviously false statements is not balance or fairness. It is actively participating in deception.

By who? Who shot the person dead? You saw the video. We all know a federal agent shot a man dead who was prone on the ground. Also, it's not "according to officials." It's according to verified video seen with your eyes. Not saying what anyone can obviously see with their eyes is a form of lying.

It will be important in future years when people try to retcon what they did during this time to ensure every single person who was in ICE is treated like scum for the rest of their lives.
In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi.

He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael.

At the time of Maher’s detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Wael’s caregiver put his life at risk.

Wael died on Friday at age 30.

ICE caused his death.

They didn’t get to say goodbye.
Disabled son of ICE detainee dies after 30 days of hospitalization
It had been months since Wael Tarabishi seen his father. The family is calling on ICE to release Maher Tarabishi so he may attend his son's funeral.

The United States has officially withdrawn from the World Health Organization.

This is a shameful move that puts both Americans and people all over the world at greater risk from disease outbreaks, which require international collaboration to contain.

I met an absolutely lovely academic who asked whether my department back home is affected by ICE -- a question dramatizing how little info is getting out.

For the record, the small example I chose:

My dept has a carpool to pick up grad students of color who can't safely commute to campus alone.

ABC's coverage of this bill is moronic. Nothing of substance about democracy and fascism. Focused only on individuals bickering inside the Coalition and what that means for the pointless horse race. We are so poorly served. Need Al Jazeera to start doing domestic Ausopl coverage

This morning on ABC radio I heard Julan Leeser: falsely substitute "Zionists" with "Jewish people" in a statement made by someone else, to claim "antisemitism"; then say "more is needed to combat antisemitism in the arts", & suggest defunding organisations accordingly.

This is getting annoying.

The hate groups provisions in the hate speech bill are deeply flawed. They still exclude advocating genocide from the definition of hate crimes, and they will be open to misuse to target peaceful activist groups because of political influence. They shouldn't be passed into law in their current form.
