At the very least if Noem isn’t prosecuted afterwards I will scream
The first official confirmation that Noem herself made the decision not to turn the planes around. A couple hundred men were tortured as a result — and soon after, the Supreme Court confirmed that the Trump admin’s Alien Enemies Act process was a total violation of due process.
BREAKING:

“After receiving that legal advice, Secretary Noem directed that the AEA detainees who had been removed from the United States before the Court’s order could be transferred to the custody of El Salvador. “

“Democratic” voters waiting for economic crises or generational level political talents to show up to the polls every 4 years

Meanwhile Republicans are cool with sexual assault, fraud and tax funds theft as long as in service of their revenge fantasies

i'd say it did. the public put a group of thieves, vandals and extremists in office last november and they promptly went about destroying everything that might work to limit their ability to loot, steal and inflicting pain on the people they hate
This whole NYT account about the weaponization of DOJ is beyond disturbing. Kinda feels like the US government fell in January.

Absolutely no way to read this and not conclude that the Department of Justice has been deeply corrupted. And this is from a time when career lawyers were in place, pushing back against illegality. With firings and resignations, the politicization will just get worse.

Many people are asking: Is NYT publisher AG Sulzberger the CVXII mentioned in the Epstein Files?
To recap: Jeffrey Epstein offered a NY Times reporter photos taken in Epstein's kitchen of Donald Trump and girls in bikinis *and* implored the NYT reporter to put this information in the public discourse in 2015

What did the NY Times editors know about this offer?

Todd Blanche would have had these emails before interviewing Maxwell. Why didn’t he question her directly about her exchanges? Why did he not follow up when she said things that were onviously a lie?? This shows that was a performance intended to dupe the public and benefit her (and Trump)

Again, this entire nation suffers from an epidemic of white people who are both terrified and elated as the prospect of killing a nonwhite home invader. And of course, what you get are incidents like this: a 32-year-old mom murdered for trying to clean the wrong house

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)

I’ve had two conferences—one in the US and one international—change titles of panels or the entire gathering to avoid being targeted or make people’s lives more difficult.

It’s the exact kind of thing the US used to label totalitarian when foreign countries did this to their scholars.
Going to a research conference next week. One of my panels featured researchers coming from Asia, who decided to withdraw given the uncertainty about domestic travel with flight cancelations. Just one more reference point for how the US under Trump has become seen as a basket case country.

This more than anything makes me think MTG’s change is from reading the room and not due to anything remotely sincere
Greene: "I will praise Nancy Pelosi. She had an incredible career for her party. I served under her speakership in my first term in Congress and I'm very impressed at her ability to get things done. I wish we could get things done for our party like Nancy Pelosi was able to deliver for her party."

A coalition that ranges from democratic socialists to neoconservatives, including a lot of energized liberals in between, is large and formidable.

A big pro-democracy tent. A united front. Any internal disagreements can be hashed out once the authoritarian emergency is over.

This really can work.

I think government corruption is bad, especially when corrupt officials undermine law enforcement to cover up their corruption.

This entire "the Dems need to abandon identity and focus on economics!" discourse is being driven by rich assholes who would melt down at the slightest hint of higher taxes on the wealthy or more welfare for the poor. Look how they're treating Mamdani! It's cynical bullshit all the way down.

Another fundamentally cynical aspect of this narrative is the idea that pundits like Douthats wouldn't *also* accuse Democrats of radicalism if they passed a bunch of 'kitchen-table' policies. Are we really gonna pretend the NYT op-ed page would support a $20 minimum wage?
This right here, this exact sentence, is THE problem in American political journalism.

The IRA *was* cheap energy and good jobs! That was the whole bill! Democrats did precisely what political pundits are telling them to do and the pundits just ignore it.

This sentence is also why Democrats will never get a fair shake from the press and pundit corps and should stop seeking one.

Just do what you think is the right thing to do and live with the consequences.

Someone working on behalf of ICE abused her.

She spoke out and was kicked out of the country.

It’s retaliation & it’s wrong
