I don't think the people who need to hear this are following me anymore, but maybe they're following you. Maybe you can say it.

There's going to have to be a day when a woman speaking when a man tells her to stop is not a career-ending sentence.

Don't be complicit.

Some of y'all:
Stop comparing ICE treatment of immigrants to police treatment of Black people!

Me:
No.

How many innocent Black families today will have their door kicked in by cops, who will shoot their non-aggressive family dog, and then just leave?

Psychologically, what does that do to a child?
Again, something that happens to Black people all the time, that we only notice is horrific when it starts happening at 1/100th the scale, to other people.🤷🏿‍♂️

Dept of Justice officials estimate that US cops shoot 10,000 dogs a year.

Is it worse when ICE kills a family dog than when cops do it?
When you’ve pissed off WeRateDogs so much they’re calling you “fucking losers” on Main you have absolutely lost all merit in the court of public opinion

African-language literature isn't very accessible in many English-speaking areas, meaning some really incredible voices aren't being heard.

We can change that in the easiest way possible- throwing money at a project.

Can you toss in a few bucks to move this along?

Can you share this?
Also, sorry, one graphic has a higher %. I'm a bit worn thin. This one is accurate.

I've seen literary communities raise $2820 in an hour. Frequently. I know there are a lot of fundraisers, but we've been at this *8 months* for a Black woman owned small press; can we get a rally and close this up?

This isn't much more than spending a small bit of interest on privilege. Try throwing those who knowingly associate with the abusers on the other side too for their own enrichment, THAT might actually cost you a bit of actual wm privilege.

Universal basic income was needed decades ago, but it's even more needed now. We must decouple survival from jobs. Universal healthcare is needed too for this. We must demand these things and vote accordingly.
Chilling piece on employment effects of AI on early careers. Includes this line, which will probably become the norm for many firms: "Managers at Shopify must now justify hiring a human by first explaining why AI can’t do the job."

I want to highlight how wonderful it was to be at the celebration of @strangehorizons.bsky.social 25 years. Bold storytelling *must* be supported.

An honor to be in the room, and as an author! (Of the piece no wp read but yet stopped talking to me right after: strangehorizons.com/wordpress/no...)

Shhhhhhh…
Hmm, yeah, I've been thinking about this, and giving it a name feels right. Racehush is what I've got.

The first time that people mentioned to me this felt as consequential as Racefail but with less attention and thus for now in the opposite direction, I thought oh no, that's too much. 🧵

Yes, refundable tax credit sounds more palatable. That is how the libertarians framed it in their Fair Tax concept.
"Sometimes we must realize that the best way to reach a UBI is to present it as a refundable tax credit rather than as a paycheck. As simply reducing the taxation of the rich and poor alike with a cash transfer to those whose tax liability is less than the credit."

Dishing truth. "got brought into" - They thought they were checking off the disabled box on their performative-only progressive bingo card.
My answer to Q2 is: I got brought into spaces tie-in writer men think they own, Black women told me repeatedly over *years* those spaces were hostile, and I tried to help. The racists marked me to take out, and white American culture is still cowardice, silence, and following, so they go with it.

I was fired from publishing an anthology from a...um...major game manufacturers association convention because we insisted on sensitivity editing mostly white, mostly midwestern writers who were tasked with writing about games from other parts of the world.
Gerald has a brilliant eye. Your stories will thank you. And so will readers who would otherwise have dragged you with good cause.
