And not meant as a joke, but even a repost with some sort of "Come on, let's get this funded!" shows that people care, they start to see it repeat and pay attention.

A lot of people deserve to see this funded today.

And it will really help.
The book community is working together to fund an African small press to translate two novels.

We need to close this today. And we're in reach! Very grateful for your help.

We can do this!

Still needed: $1134 (USD)

Last donation/purchase: 12:54a EST / 17:54 SAST ($10)

The people working on this project seem extremely cool. Sifiso Mzobe, the isiZulu translator, writes great crime fiction. Zukiswa Wanner, the Shona translator, was on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla and spent time in Israeli custody -- super brave! Support support support

BCS Patreon has fallen below the monthly amount we need to pay our authors a pro rate and our First Readers a worthy honorarium ($125/mo). Sometimes folks need to lower or pause their support; we understand. But less than 1% of BCS readership donates or supports. www.patreon.com/beneath_ceas... 1/3

Then, you need to reflect who and what you are.

And put the money where it should be.

Not becoming sycophants.

These people do not want us to live, or thrive. They are horrible little souls with no empathy.

If you really support small press publishers, would you listen to misinformation spread by malicious folk?

Instead, a lot have ceased, for fear of incurring the wrath of the people in power.

I have one thing to say before I turn in:

A lot of publishers are under strain. Mean and unkind behavior from people will end up causing them to lose money. Small press publishers are not rolling in dough.

We all want to make a living out of our passion: but there are people who make it hard.
