The great power behind the lies from government and assorted racists is imo that they appeal to our great national sense of begrudgery - someone out there is getting something for free and you aren't
“In fairness, we also seem to believe that over one-in-three Irish people are accessing social housing compared to the real figure of 9.2%, which begs the question: how much social housing do these people think that Ireland has?”

Here is this week’s column.
Surrealing in the Years: We've found out we know nothing about a lot of Very Important Things
Maybe it’s a bad thing that we’re completely clueless.

"No one claims taking on extreme wealth is easy. Battle begins with political parties spelling out this aim: Either they represent the great majority, or they represent the tiny minority: they cannot do both [@georgemonbiot.bsky.social nails it as usual!] www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
At the root of all our problems stands one travesty: politicians’ surrender to the super-rich | George Monbiot
There are many excuses for failing to tax the ultra-wealthy. The truth is that governments don’t tackle the problem because they don’t want to, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Speed. Saw that triangle like "fast, cheap, good: pick two" and chose only one. I was put on this earth to thumbnail and, I sometimes suspect, go no further
Artists, I think we're all too comfortable sharing our imposter syndrome.

I would love to see you step out of your comfort zone and confidently state what you think you're actually really good at.

No self deprecation, just what you think you're the strongest at

Is anyone brave eniough? 👀

I feel like I'm going crazy. Our leader just casually told us he can't stop illegal trade with another nation in case it impacts on the multinationals from another state that have set up residence here.
He can't enact the will of the Irish people because it will upset foreign billionaires #Spéirgorm
Micheál Martin today told the Dáil that any ban on importing services from illegal Israeli settlements would be “unimplementable” as well as having legal consequences for US multinationals here. Separately the government’s spring legislative programme refers only to a ban on “goods” from those areas

My new year's resolution is to check in with my friends more! I like a lot of people, but I do very little to affirm that I like them. It doesn't come easy to me, but I would like to be more present in people's lives!

Anyway. I haven't done anything for this since new year. obh i got plany of time

Learning things had been harder. Getting an education was a bit like a communicable sexual disease. It made you unsuitable for a lot of jobs and then you had the urge to pass it on.

Baldur's Gate 3 has a combat track called Nine Blades. It's in 9/8. When you crit, kill, or gain the numbers advantage in a fight, it transitions to a track called Sixteen Strikes, because you crit the music. Borislav Slavov replied to my tweet about it
