This week, I withdrew from a speaking engagement at a public university because they sent me a list of prohibited “words & concepts.” I will not humor this censorship. It does a disservice to the stories I’m discussing & the audience, who deserve unfettered access to information & conversation.

I'm old enough to remember when "armed agents of the federal government raiding churches on Christmas" was not, in fact, a cornerstone of the Republican Party's agenda.

At a church camp in the 90s I participated in a “game” where we told teens Clinton made Christianity illegal and the army was coming for us.
We made them hide in the words and pray while we cosplayed as soldiers.
I regret it to this day and I’m appalled at this article

Once again, I reiterate: the Christian right has made entire political and fundraising campaigns about supposedly impending "criminalization of Christianity" by Democratically-led governments, and that they would literally be prevented from worshipping.
Correction: technically DHS called the protesters "imbecilic morons" — not just "imbeciles."

This week’s adventure: driving 4 cats 40 miles to stay with my parents due to work done on my house. In the end, the work wasn’t nearly as disruptive as expected so we drove the cats home.
