Perfect Tom Stoppard story from DTel obituary:

His response to a letter from Harold Pinter canvassing support for a proposal to have the Comedy Theatre in London rechristened the Pinter Theatre, “Have you thought, instead, of changing your name to Harold Comedy?”

I've spent my life being in the wrong place at the wrong time in terms of music, sport etc, but the top times I actually managed be there when it happened were:

1. Tom Stoppard's Arcadia, Lyttelton, 1993
2. Pulp, Newcastle, 1995
3. Dugarry v Southampton, 2003
4. Asafa Powell WR, Gateshead, 2006

Astonishing.
Just a thought, but perhaps publishers should pay peer reviewers for their time and expertise, rather than expecting free labour. I know, silly me.
Or, maybe this never went near peer review. I spent hours recently reviewing a manuscript for Scientific Reports. Did I waste my time...?
Hey @nature.com, have you got an explanation for how the hell THIS happened? & especially why you accepted a paper with such a bizarre piece of genAI slop in it?!
& more to the point, why we should take you seriously at all going forward?

It’s even better watching it in real time. To run in hard and bowl it at over 140kmh and follow through then all of a sudden go the opposite way to catch it is an amazing effort from Mitchell Starc.

They're going to have to make these matches three innings each to guarantee getting beyond day two. 😵‍💫
