You know who else came to power under dubious circumstances, relied on a foreign dictator to stay in power, was tremendously unpopular with his own nation, had several wives and many children just as awful as him, went on a building spree, loved brutality and wars and died of some unknown disease?
I hear the sound of 10,000 Epiphany sermons being hastily rewritten to sharpen the contrast between the Prince of Peace and the kings of this world.

Unpaid mayor becomes city manager
Happy New Year, friends! I have some ~personal news~, which is that the Bluesky team is generously giving me some contract work (which could possibly turn into a job) welcoming more indie media and local govt to Bsky and supporting those already here.

Excited to take my amateur Bsky boosterism pro!

When I was in grad school, I was in an elevator in the Algonquin Hotel with a friend who had just graduated from college with 4.0 gpa in Economics. And Lester Thurow got on the elevator. We recognized him, but he definitely qualifies as a non-celebrity (especially at the Algonquin)
Please quote this with stories of your minor interactions with non-celebrities, e.g. “I once accidentally bumped into a man in the Wellingborough branch of Holland & Barrett”

Two people who disagree with Yglesias are the two leading candidates for the Democratic nomination for Senate in Texas. @jamestalarico.bsky.social and @crockett.house.gov

They are both going in hard on immigration. I think it’s pretty difficult to be more wrong about this than Yglesias is
I’m curious, though, is someone going to *actually* disagree with me and argue that Garcia-focused messaging is what we will see Dem challengers in Iowa, Ohio, Texas, Alaska, Kansas, and Florida have success with?

My sense is everyone is actually aligned on this.

As true now as it was when I started in software development over 30 years ago.
“Failed software projects are strategic failures | deadSimpleTech”

> The reason for this is fairly simple: software projects tend to fail on the strategic level, not the execution level.

This is the core truth of software development

Read this opinion carefully. This is a paramilitary force violently attacking and detaining American citizens for opposing the regime. Obviously, those are my words, not the judge's. The facts are the facts. The only "crime" that these people committed was exercising their 1st Amendment rights
Here's the dismissal opinion in the Dana Briggs case. Everyone should read it.

Among other things it describes that none of the very celebrated (by DHS) arrests on September survived.
