Can I let you in on a little secret?

Billionaire philanthropy isn’t charity.

It’s PR to distract you from low wages, labor exploitation, and a tax system that’s rigged for the rich.

Further evidence to my theory that The Bruce Harrell Reelection Campaign was three Democratic Fundraisers in a trench coat the whole time.
Seattle mayor Bruce Harrell was putting out at least a press release daily celebrating all the amazing things the mayor's office was doing right up until, let's see, November 3.

Nothing since then, though. Weird!

Bruce Harrell has been misusing public office for personal gain all year long. The SEEC hasn’t given a fu¢k. We need to get this corrupt toxic misogynist out of office ASAP

Been thinking about this lately. I haven't clocked any public appearances by Harrell since his concession speech.

Lol, those enormous plastic ribbon cutting scissors were unusually dull in September and October, I see.
The pattern of Harrell using the Mayor's office to boost his campaign is clear as day for anyone who wants to look.

Seattle/WA friends (ones who grew up here): How much did you learn about the anti-Chinese pogroms in WA during the late 1800's? Reading Jamie Madden's Bittersweet Lane, and the history is an ugly one that I wasn't familiar with.

GM Tips 134: When the players start making little towers out of their dice, that's a sign you have been talking too long and your game is fucking boring.

I think the most underrated and possibly important skill a Game Master can have is being able to listen - and really listen - to their players. Anyone can 'tell' a story or read a list of facts or describe a room. The skill is to hear what your players want to do once they're there.

Played a fantastic game of Mausritter with a bunch of other GM’s tonight and it got nuts: Redwall via Cormac McCarthy. The best feeling in the world is TTRPG that teeters on the rails while never falling off, and tonight was that feeling.

Agreed: In a functional society, the sneering, latex husk of Donatello is free at the point of service.
The bar here is so so so low for rich tech magnates to look like good people. Allen could have done so much more but it was relatively better than what most like Bezos did.

Allen could have endowed museums like MoPop to make them free. Instead he charged people $30 to look at his memorabilia.
From the wealthy to the grassroots, civic leadership springs from many sources. It's aided Seattle in many ways. But arguments over priorities will continue, Jon Talton writes.

There is a direct correlation between how fake your job is and how much value you see in AI
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
