Knitter, mathematician, reader. I love a time loop in tv and movies and an epistolary novel. Angrier than I like to admit.

absolutely begging people to STOP. BUYING. DOORBELL. CAMERAS. your piddling little fears about "porch pirates" & strangers passing by on the street are being leveraged to build the last mile of a total surveillance panopticon

Reading Eve Ewing’s new book on race and schooling in America and as a white woman teaching at a community college it definitely makes me think about my history and attitudes towards my work.

cnn really gonna go with "suspect charged in antisemitic arson attack was an honor roll student and baseball player" at the same time as they run a story calling the murdered mother some kind of far-left agitator

Oh, this is a crushing disappointment. Not only because we won’t get the samples which will teach a lot, but the challenge of returning the samples would’ve taught infinitely more.

We are losing so much knowledge from this decision.

Bree’s attitude about this is the one I most aspire to. I also have two terrible senators and a good congressperson. I call and spew and make my tiny voice heard because while they may not care, I do, and they’re supposed to represent me so I’m not going to let them go without hearing from me.
My attitude on this is that I'm not calling them because I think I can change their minds.

I'm calling them because it is unthinkable to let them do this without hearing how evil and awful they are.

My spite powers me. If I can get just 500 people a day to join me, we could fuck up their day.
I call Tommy Tuberville every fucking week, multiple times a week, because he can be evil but I don't have to let him do it without pushback.

So I don't need to hear excuses. I call the dumbest senator in the country. 😂

Called my terrible senators this morning. Was probably incoherent, but I think I got my point across. Added the 🤮 emoji to their contacts in my phone, so that’s fun.

“Well… we can’t just keep filing impeachment articles all the time.”

Yes you can! If the man is committing impeachable offenses on the regular, you’re acquiescing to a standard that raises the bar for impeachable offense to absurd levels.
How are voters meant to understand how serious things are if in lieu of shouting fire AND going into building with hoses, you're simply posting fire safety suggestions on social media?
Not introducing articles of impeachment is a message that Trump hasn't committed impeachable offenses.

In 2026 I want all of the decent people to remember one thing.

You aren’t meant to be this disciplined, this self-sacrificing to survive. The environment is supposed to support good living. We can have that. You are not a failure. That is politics.

That is all.

Only You is on TCM and while its status as a 31-year-old movie is hurtful, it is indeed a classic and I’ve loved it since I was a teenager.

See why do we have to have like bigots and Nazis and hating other people for stupid ass reasons when I just looked at my planet from the surface of another planet and I don't even have shoes on. I'm in Soft House Clothes and slippers looking at my planet on my phone.

What.
Open up this picture fully.

Then look at the surface of Mars.

Then look up to the top right.

Spot Mars' moon Phobos high in the sky.

Then notice the bright spot beside Phobos.

That's Earth.

This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

And, this isn’t a dunk, but I have to point out this is very particular to white women because Black women have always been expected to work.
It's also sort of funny that the argument here is basically "corporate jobs aren't fulfilling" but it's framed as if that's only true for women and specifically because of baby-raising and not just the reality of the workplace
