It’s hard for me compare directly to Twitter (i deleted my account over a year ago) but it’s definitely the case that a lot of media request I get contain a phrase along the lines of “I saw on your Bluesky that …”
Bluesky is the new science Twitter, new study by @whysharksmatter.bsky.social and Julia Wester concludes!

"Results show that for every reported professional benefit that scientists once gained from Twitter, scientists can now gain that benefit more effectively on Bluesky than on Twitter."

Synopsis. Social media has become widely used by the scientific community for a variety of professional uses, including networking and public outreach. For

Centuries of "shared Christian faith"? At the same time Europeans were colonizing the Americas, Europe was embroiled in a century and a half of devastating religious wars, Christians vs. Christians.

Indeed, it's not weird. Black folk, Latino folk, Asian folk and others, including women are the target of MAGA.

Jewish folk will be on its list of undesirables too.

If people haven't woken up to that at this stage then it's about time they did.

Thankfully, decent human beings will prevail.

Again, the answer is “10-25 people in Washington, <all> of whom are Republicans, or it’s not going to happen.”

And yet, these 10-25 people get free passes every day & still can leave their houses & go to work with scarcely a question about when they’re going to start fulfilling their oaths 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
Again, I know everyone wants to yell at The Democrats & Chuck Schumer & Hakeem Jefferies, but there are 10-25 people in Washington who could literally end all of this tomorrow, & none of them are Democrats, & they continue to get 24/7 free passes for being absolute oath-violating cowards. Focus.
Yes, we’re looking at you, Lisa Murkowski & Susan Collins & Thom Tillis, you absolute oath-violating cowards.

Pay attention to the Prairieland case.

By saddling the defendants with indiscriminate charges, holding them without bail, and isolating them from lawyers and the public, prosecutors are attempting to terrorize them into signing guilty pleas in order to set a precedent criminalizing dissent itself.
The Road to Prairieland
The crackdown on anti-ICE activists in Texas reflects a pattern of intensifying repression all around the country.

(particularly true in the smaller sections of the betting markets, which is where general events and politics betting are, makign them even more useless as improvements over basic poll averaging)
Betting markets are designed to clear profitably – partly by pricing all the outcomes to make participation tempting! – rather than to accurately predict outcomes.

The first goal is often in direct competition with the second. Calling them “prediction” markets is false advertising.

Invoking wealthy class solidarity to excuse sex crimes against children is sorta the Epstein Class in a nutshell
Bondi crashes out over Epstein: "The Dow is over 50,000 dollars! I don't know why you're laughing. You're a great stock trader as I hear, Raskin. The Dow is over 50,000 right now. The S&P at almost 7,000, and the Nasdaq smashing records. That's what we should be talking about."

I used "smooth-brained" as a dig until a father of a boy with lissencephaly -- the medical term for the condition -- wrote me an incredibly patient note to explain what his son had to deal with.

This phrase is a gratuitous insult to parents and children who are already suffering. Don't use it.

Amongst other things, this again highlights the core point about due process. It’s bad enough to be in a “show me your papers” situation, but your precious citizen/non-citizen, “legal”/“illegal” distinctions are meaningless when you can’t prove anything to authorities because they don’t give a shit.

I really do think this is an excellent metaphor for the moment.
I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

🏈 Bad Trump, Good Bunny

It’s not just the Super Bowl. MAGA’s culture war is epically backfiring. And as a blue wave builds, Trump is only escalating his crackdowns.

Cuban government has informed airlines that they only have about 24 hours worth of fuel left for planes.
