two thoughts on Farage's youthful bullying racism: first, yeah, I do absolutely believe the people speaking up about this now, because bullying stays with you. I still remember specific incidents of being bullied as a kid 50-odd years ago.
Danny Kruger says he feels sorry for Nigel Farage getting all this unfair criticism. That's his main thought on the matter.

The excitement of what the web was capable of around 2000-2008ish was palpable.

Now I barely want to open a web browser. And I have zero desire to work on any modern bullshit websites built on shifting sands and full of thieving JavaScript trackers.
The early web revealed how many of us are creative.
The current web shows how many are morons.

Seeing how much of the right-wing on Twitter is just bot farms, kinda lays bare how much hate and hatred is a project that needs to be constantly maintained, a fire that needs to be fed all the time lest it go out for a moment, so much time, effort, and resources to keep people angry and hateful.

One brilliant thing about Twitter was that for a lot of us, it made networking not networking.

You posted about what you were passionate about it, and it had more of a chance to get in front of someone relevant. It wasn't networking, it was caring about something in public.
I made friends with game developers. I did my own work. And it happened. That’s all there is.

For reasons obvious to anyone who knows what team I worked on in 2012, this makes me sad.

Forgot to mention - if funds are a problem, there’s a half price ticket option.

If that’s still too much, but you’d like to come, please let me know and I’ll put you on the guestlist.

No questions, no judgement on either. Let’s have a lovely time.

One of my lukewarmest takes is that we should get comfortable calling evil actions (& actors) evil—not “insane,” “stupid,” etc. Pretending that we don’t know their intent is BAD, & using that comforting falsehood to claim we can’t make a moral judgement about their destructive acts, only helps them.
